Capture a Sandstar
I Caught a Shooting Star can be obtained by capturing a Sandstar. This endemic life doesn’t appear regularly and has specific conditions for spawning. On top of that, they flee quickly, making them tough to catch!
Sandstar Location and How to Catch
Sandstar Only Spawns at Night
Sandstars only spawn at night, and a great spot to find them is in Area 13 of Windward Plains. Be sure to set up a Pop-Up Camp here for easy fast travel, just in case they don’t show up the first time!
Windward Plains Map and Location Guide
Change the Weather to Fallow or Plenty
Sandstars will only appear during Fallow or Plenty weather. If you have a Pop-Up Camp in the area, you can rest in it and pay 500 Guild Points to change the weather!
Stun Sandstars with Screamer Pod
To prevent a Sandstar from fleeing, use your Slinger to hurl a Screamer Pod. This will stun it, allowing you to capture it with your net. You'll eventually get the I Caught a Shooting Star achievement after capturing one!
