In World, players could soften a monster's body part by attacking it after hitting it with the Clutch Claw. This allows you deal more damage to that part. In Wilds, however, Wounds appear after you attack a certain body part multiple times with any weapon. This then opens the monster up to powerful attacks if you attack the wound using a Focus Strike.

Focus Mode is a new combat feature in Wilds which allows you to aim your weapon attacks, as well as hit Wounds with e Focus Strike.
Additionally, some weapons like the Great Sword have Offset that can knock monsters off balance, as well as Power Clash mechanics that put you in a battle of strength with the monster.
How to Use Focus Mode and Focus Strike
Thanks to the introduction of numerous combat mechanics, the way all weapons are use have changed, with new combos and moves now available to you.

Compare to World, where you only had a Palico to accompany you on fights, Wilds introduces the Seikret, a mount that helps you get around the map easily. This is simlar to the Palamutes in Monster Hunter Rise.
Seikret Mount Features and Abilities
Other than getting you around the map, the Seikret also holds a secondary Hunter weapon, which allows you to switch weapons quickly without the need to go back to camp.
How to Change and Switch Weapons

The Palicos in Wilds can now also talk in the human language compared to World where they can only talk in the Felyn language.
Players can choose to turn this feature on or off based on their preference.
How to Change the Palico's Language and Voice

Compared to World which had a required storage space of 52 GB, the storage space needed for Wilds has almost trippled to 140 GB. Additionally, an SSD is required.

The system requirements for Wilds has also increased dramatically, likely thanks to the game's seamless explorable world.
PC Requirements and Recommended Specs

Compared to World, which only allowed multiplayer between the same platform, Wilds supports crossplay multiplayer, allowing players from the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions of the game to team up with each other.
Does Monster Hunter Wilds Have Crossplay?
Wilds introduces a Link Party system, which allows groups of up to 4 hunters to continuously do quests together, visit each other's environments, and more.

Wilds also introduces a dynamic weather system, which changes the conditions of the overworld over time. This is important as some monsters, like the Rey Dau, only spawn outside of a quest within certain weather conditions.

Players can now set up their own Pop-up Camps in Wilds in certain locations. These serve as fast travel points, as well as locations to change equipment, restock items, and cook food.
The Well-Done Steak has received a buff in Wilds. Compared to World, where it only recovered Stamina, it now recovers both Stamina and Health.

You no longer have to walk up to items to gather them as you can now pick items up with your slinger.

The appearances of armor is no longer connected to your character's gender. You can now equip both the Male and Female versions of an armor regardless of your character's gender.
You can now pick up Large Barrel Bombs if you placed them in the wrong location. Additionally, you can also roll your Large Barrel Bombs, making them explode upon impact.

Slingers still function the same way as in World. You can pick up Slinger ammo from the environment and monsters and shoot them. You can also use them to pull down environmental hazards or swing around.

The SOS Flares still function the same as in World, allowing you to call for help from other Hunters.

All 14 weapon types from World are still in Wilds. No new weapon types were introduced in Wilds.
You can still capture and collect Endemic Life scattered throughout the map using your Capture Net.
List of All Endemic Life
Decorations are still an important part of the endgame of Wilds, which means you will be actively farming for these for your builds.
With decorations still being a farmed item, it is likely that Talismans will be a craftable equipment, allowing you to get the Skills you need.
Although there are multiple differences between World and Wilds, Wilds is still overall similar with World, so players who have played World should have no problem getting used to Wilds.
It is currently unclear if there is a connection between World and Wilds. However, some players have started speculating that Wilds could be connected to Monster Hunter 4, as some of the characters in Wild appear to be older versions of the characters from 4.
List of Characters and Voice Actors
Because of the similarities between Wilds and World, it is recommened to try out Monster Hunter World if you have time to spare. This can help you get used to the gameplay of Wilds once it comes out.
Iceborne, the expansion for Monster Hunter World, takes around 100 hours to complete. As such, if you plan on finishing both the base game and the expansion, do so while it's still early.

Having a save file for Monster Hunter World and Iceborne will reward you with armor sets and weapons for your Palico, as well as nameplates for your hunter.
It is important to note, however, that the save data rewards are platform locked. For example, if you played World and Iceborne on the PlayStation 4 or 5, and decide to play Wilds on Steam, you will not receive rewards.
