Mind's Eye has no effect when using Bows, Light Bowguns, and Heavy Bowguns. The skill is tailored for melee weapons, allowing them to strike through a monster’s tougher body parts without getting deflected.

On top of preventing your attacks from being deflected, Mind's Eye is effective against monster weak spots rated 3 stars or lower. However, there are some exceptions where certain parts do not take increased damage.
You can check for weak spots in the Large Monster Field Guide. Hit R1/RB/E-key to go to the second page then press Triangle/Y/R-key (default controls for PS, Xbox, PC respectively).
The following table shows a damage comparison of the uncharged draw attack of the Hope Blade IV with and without Mind's Eye 3.
Note that not all parts receive increased damage from Mind's Eye.

minds eye is much stronger than it was before! Before, I believe it was below 40 hitzone to trigger it. But they expanded it, its below 45. So even juicy parts w 42 hitzone, like the fore arms of gore magala, can benefit. And a wounded body part that used to be hard, like training barrel w 40 hitzone ( its prob 60 when wounded) will still get the buff, so its as if that part was insanely soft, its just like hitting the monsters weak point.
