The type of Ore you get from Mining Outcrops are random and will depend on what location you're in and whether you're in a Low or High Rank Environment. The Mining Outcrops in Windward Plains, for example, will contain Iron Ores, Malachite Ores, or Earth Crystals in Low Rank, and will contain Earth Crystals, Lightcrystals, Carbalite Ores and Novacrystals in High Rank.

How to Farm Mining Outcrops
Wait for Upsurges
It best to farm Ores during Mining Outcrop Upsurges. These random events can occur on each locale which causes more Mining Outcrop nodes to spawn and have higher chances mining rare Ores.
Check the weather Map Overview for each location to check for current and upcoming events such as Mining Outcrop Upsurges.
Use the Filter Icons to Highlight Mining Outcrops
You can use the map's Filter Icons feature to highlight each Mining Outcrop node in your map and help you all the nodes faster. Press the directional keys while having the map open to access the Filter Icons and select Mining Outcrop to highlight them.
Alternatively, you can also use this to go through all the Mining Outcrop nodes and set them as waypoints one a time to have your Seikret take you there automatically.
Equip the Geologist Skill
The Geologist skill is the most important Skill when farming Mining Outcrops as it increases the number of items you receive from each Mining Outcrop node. Level 3 Geologist is required to farm Mining Outcrops efficiently.
