Super Armor VS Hyper Armor

Super Armor Acts Like Flinch Free

Attacks that have the Super Armor property will give off an effect like Flinch Free, which prevents you from staggering whenever you are hit by friendly fire or weak Monster attacks.

While Super Armor may seem obsolete compared to Hyper Armor, it allows you to continue through a Monster's poke-like attacks that would otherwise knock you off your feet.

For example, while you are charging with the Greatsword, Arkveld performs a quick head poke. During any charge, you have the Super Armor property, which allows you to pull through with your attack!

How to Prevent Flinching in Multiplayer

Hyper Armor Tanks Monster Attacks

Often mistaken as a parry, Hyper Armor attacks allows you to power through certain Monster attacks while reducing damage, resulting in your attacks as a priority. However, Hyper Armor does not make you invulnerable to damage, meaning you can still faint if you take enough damage.

While this property is strong, it still requires you to have a solid understanding of hunting fundamentals and the monster you are facing. Always keep in mind to gauge out whether or not it is worth it to Hyper Armor through a Monster's notorious move!
