Toggle in the Options Menu

To hide the hunter's helmet, open the Options menu and head to the Game Settings tab. At the third page of the list of options, toggle the Head Armor Visibility option to hide your equipped helmet piece.

If you want to make your helmet appear again, simple toggle back the option.

Toggle in Equipment Appearance Menu

You can also hide your helmet, as well as other armor pieces, inside either your tent in a Base Camp or a Pop-up Camp.

With the menu open, navigate to the helmet icon and select Equipment Appearance. You can then toggle the option to hide an armor piece model in this menu.

What Does Hiding the Helmet Do?

Makes the Hunter's Face Visible

Toggling your hunter's helmet visibility is a purely cosmetic function which makes it so that you can see your hunter's face during gameplay. Your equipped armor will still give its stats and effects despite not being seen.

Hunter in a Cinematic

The visibility of the helmet will also affect the hunter's appearance in cutscenes. Turning the helmet's visibility off will mean that the hunter won't have it on either during cinematics.
