Investigate the Clashing Monsters
| 1 |  Go to Kunafa Village and talk to Murtabak in the northern part of the village. Kunafa Village is located in the center of the Windward Plains region. ┗ Fast Travel to the Nearest Pop-Up Camp |

| 2 |  Talk to Alma and accept the Optional Quest Continuing Conflict. Depart when ready. |
| 3 |  Defeat the Quematrice and the Rathian to complete the Optional Quest. The order in which you hunt the monsters does not matter, as long as they are both captured or killed. ▶︎ Monster Hunt: Quematrice ▶︎ Monster Hunt: Rathian |
| 4 |  Report back to Murtaback in the northern area of Kunafa Village in Windward Plains. This concludes this side mission and unlocks Great Hunts in the Windward Plains. |
Fast Travel to Area 8 Pop-Up Camp
If you have a pop-up camp set up in Area 8 there to get to Kunafa Village. It is a good idea to set up pop-up camps in the areas you frequent, as this will allow you to move around more quickly.

| Rathian Fight Tips | ||||||||||||||
 Bring Antidotes to counter the poison status it inflicts with some of its attacks.Cutting off its tail removes its ability to inflict poison with its tail attacks. From then on, all tail attacks will have a shorter range.Evade repeatedly or use Nulberries when it inflicts Fireblight status with its Fire Breath attacks. |

|
Like the Rathian, it can inflict Fireblight with its tail attacks. Use Nulberries or dodge to remove the Fireblight condition.Water is effective against it. Bring water elemental weapons or use water ammo.A good general strategy against it is to stay close to its legs and attack from there. Now all you have to deal with is the tail and the spinning attacks. |

This side mission is unlocked after reaching HR 40 and completing the A Break in the Clouds main mission in Chapter 6.

Encounter the Rathian Once
Other than the chapter requirement you will need to encounter the target monster, Rathian, once. It's not necessary to beat them. You can find unkown monsters by opening the map and looking for monster icons that are marked as ?????.
