Stay Near Quematrice's Legs
Stay near Quematrice's legs where you can deal consistent damage to its body while also avoiding its tail attacks. Just take care when it repositions or spins around, and make sure to position yourself between its legs to stay safe.
Head Becomes a Weak Point After Its 360 Tail Spin Attack
After using its 360 tail spin attack, Quematrice's head becomes a weak point. Deal a flurry of attacks or use your Focus Strike to make it flinch or knock it down.
How to Use Focus Mode and Focus Strike
Lure Quematrice in the Water to Disable its Tail Ignite
Quematrice's tail attacks can inflict Fireblight which constantly drains your health until you remove it. Use Luring Pods to lure Quematrice to water and focus on fighting it in that area. This disables its tail igniting when it performs its tail attacks.
Nulberry and Rolling Removes FIreblight
In cases where you are affected by Fireblight without any water nearby, you can eat a Nulberry or roll 2-3 times to remove this ailment.
Sever Quematrice's Tail to Weaken It
It is recommended to sever Quematrice's tail as it is the main source of its fire attacks. Doing this will greatly weaken it and make the hunt easier.
Lure into a Turf War with Rathian
Use a Luring Pod to bring the Quematrice to a Rathian or vice-versa. They will initiate a turf war wherein the Rathian will be distracted and deal massive damage to the Quematrice.

| Bite | When you see Quematrice rearing up with its mouth open, it will attempt to bite you. Dodge sideways from this attack to avoid it. |
| Tail Swipes | Quematrice can sweep its tail sideways once or twice, turning itself around with each sweep. Dodge inwards or outwards from these swipes, depending how near or far you are from its body. |
| Tail Smash | Once you see Quematrice position its tail above you, it will try to smash it down on you. Dodge sideways or backwards from this attack. |
| Ignite Sweep | When angered, Quematrice can light its tail on fire and sweep it against you. You can tell it's coming if you see Quematrice back up before twirling around. Dodge inwards or outwards before the sweep hits you, depending how near or far you are from its body. Avoid this attack to prevent yourself getting Fireblighted. |

Tempered Quematrice can be encountered in a Field Survey in Ruins of Wyveria. It will start appearing after finishing the Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns quest, making it a high rank hunt.
Tempered Quematrice Appearance
Tempered Quematrice are stronger and covered in large scars across their bodies which you can damage and open into Tempered Wounds which you can break with a Focus Strike to deal increase damaged and even knock them down to the ground!

There are no Frenzied Quematrices as there are only 5 existing Monsters infected with the Frenzy Virus.

The Wyvern Gem is Quematrice's rarest High Rank drop, with a 3% drop chance. Multiple monsters can drop this material, such as Rompopolo and Balahara. To obtain it from Quematrice, it's best to sever and carve its tail. Carving its tail gives a 7% drop chance, while carving the body gives a 5% chance.
Remember to also check Quematrice Investigations or SOS quests and look for the rewards. Some quests will have these rare materials as guaranteed rewards! You can also opt to use Lucky Vouchers and utilize the Lucky Meal or Capture Pro Meal food skill to improve your chances of getting these rare materials overall.
