Gathering from Bonepiles lets you obtain different types of bone items in Monster Hunter Wilds. See a map of all the Bonepile locations, the different Bonepile bones, and how to farm them here.

The type of Bones you get from Bonepiles are random and will depend on what location you're in and whether you're in a Low or High Rank Environment. The Bonepiles in Windward Plains, for example, will contain Mystery Bones or Sturdy Bones in Low Rank, and will contain Sturdy Bones, Quality Bones, and Dragonbone Relics in High Rank.
While the list above highlights all the gatherable bone items, more types of bone items drop exclusively by defeating various Small and Large Monsters.

Ruins of Wyveria Map and Location Guide
It best to farm bones during Bonepile Upsurges. These random events can occur on each locale which causes more Bonepile nodes to spawn and have higher chances of having rare bones.
Check the weather Map Overview for each location to check for current and upcoming events such as Bonepile Upsurges.
You can use the map's Filter Icons feature to highlight each Bonepile node in your map and help you all the nodes faster. Press the directional keys while having the map open to access the Filter Icons and select Bonepiles to highlight them.
Alternatively, you can also use this to go through all the Bonepile nodes and set them as waypoints one a time to have your Seikret take you there automatically.
The Geologist skill is the most important Skill when farming Bonepiles as it increases the number of items you receive from each Bonepile node. Only one level of Geologist is required to farm Bonepiles efficiently.
