Counterstrike is an Armor Skill in Monster Hunter Wilds. Learn the effects of Counterstrike and see a list of armor with the Counterstrike skill.

Skill Effects Per Level

Counterstrike Skill
Temporarily increases attack power after being knocked back.
Level Effect
1 Attack +10 while active.
2 Attack +15 while active. Moderately extends effect time.
3 Attack +25 while active. Extends effect time.

Counterstrike Duration Per Level

Skill Level Duration
1 30 seconds
2 35 seconds
3 45 seconds

Counterstrike lasts for 30 seconds by default. Having the skill at its maximum level extends the attack buff by up to 15 seconds.

Although the skill notes that you need to be knocked back, it can activate on moves with Hyper Armor. Hyper Armor allows you tank through monster attacks even if it would have knocked you back. However, you will still take damage by doing so.

Negates damage reactions, protects hearing, grants wind and tremor resistance, and reduces damage.

The reaction negation of the Rocksteady Mantle also allows Counterstrike to activate without actually being knocked back.
