Azure Bolt is a Set Bonus Skill under the Leviathan's Fury set in Monster Hunter Wilds. Learn the effects of Azure Bolt and armor sets with Azure Bolt.
List of Contents
| Skill | Pieces | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Azure Bolt I | 2 | Temporarily increases affinity and can deal extra thunder damage upon buildup. (Excludes some attacks.) |
| Azure Bolt II | 4 | Further increases additional thunder damage and moderately extends the duration affinity is increased. |
Leviathan's Fury Set Bonus Effects
Azure Bolt triggered by successfully landing attacks on monsters. The number of hits required vary depending on the weapon.
It's also important to note that Azure Bolt does activate or build up on some attacks. It is likely that the attacks that can help activate Azure Bolt are the same ones that can activate skills like Flayer, Scorcher, and Whiteflame Torrent.

Azure Bolt also has an internal cooldown of approximately 30 seconds before it can trigger again. When it is off cooldown, you will see a popup at the side that says the skill "can now be activated".
| Skill Level | Affinity | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Azure Bolt I | +15% | 20 seconds |
| Azure Bolt II | 30 seconds |
Azure Bolt grants 15% Affinity at all levels when activated. At max level, the skill adds only 10 extra seconds of duration, making the 2-piece bonus more than sufficient for most builds.

Other than increasing your Affinity, Azure Bolt also deals Thunder damage to the monster you are attacking. It is important to note that the damage that Azure Bolt deals is not affected by your weapon's Attack. A weapon with low Raw Attack will deal the same damage as a weapon with high Raw Attack if they are attacking the same thing.
Additionally, this skill will always deal Thunder damage regardless of your weapon's element. That means that even if you have a Fire or Sleep weapon, Azure Bolt will still deal Thunder damage.
| Base | Thunder Attack 1 | Thunder Attack 2 | Thunder Attack 3 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Azure Bolt I | 51 | 52.2 | 54.6 | 57 |
| Azure Bolt II | 120 | 121.2 | 127.5 | 133.8 |
These values were recorded by attacking the training area dummy until Azure Bolt activated.
Although Azure Bolt is not affected by your weapon's Raw or Element attack, the damage it deals is affected by the Thunder Attack skill.
| Fixed Damage | Thunder Damage | |
|---|---|---|
| Azure Bolt 1 | 30 | 70 |
| Azure Bolt 2 | 60 | 200 |
Based on our testing, the damage the skill deals is divided into two parts: a fixed damage that always gets dealt to the monster, and a variable damage that is affected by the Thunder Attack skill and a monster's Elemental Hitzone Value.
Do note that if a monster or any of their parts are immune to Thunder, the damage they take from Azure Bolt will be reduced. When fighting Nerscylla and Rey Dau, monsters that are immune to Thunder damage, Azure Bolt I dealt 21 damage on activation.

Neither in-game nor on this page does it say what kind of build-up to get the buffs? Do I have to get hit? Do I have to hit monsters? Does it have to be specifically thunder element like Lagiacrus? Would be nice to also see what kind of build-up it is on this wiki/guide page.
