MH Wilds - Can You Change Game Difficulty
Difficulty in Monster Hunter Wilds is based on the Quest Rank and cannot be adjusted through the settings menu. Check out how difficulty works in Monster Hunter Wilds and ways to make the game easier here!

Can You Change Difficulty Level?

No Option to Change Difficulty Settings

Unfortunately, you cannot change the game's difficulty level. The strength, health, and behavior of monsters all depend on your current rank.

Quests Have Different Difficulty Levels

Quest Difficulties
As a note, the different quests in the game have their own difficulty levels indicated by the amount of stars on the quest. Also, you'll eventually unlock higher-ranked quests which feature monsters that are stronger than those encountered in the previous rank.

Optimize Your Skills

Equipment Skills
Instead of using whatever Armour Set you have, it's better to use different pieces from different sets to maximize your Skill Levels. The only time you want to use an entire Armour Set is when there's a Group Skill you want to activate.

For example, instead of using the entire Doshaguma Set, use different pieces that have better skills, like Divine Blessing or Stamina Surge, since they're more useful than Free Meal.

Learn the Monster's Moveset

MH Wilds - Hunting Monsters
A key aspect of the game is learning the behavior and attack patterns of a monster. This is important so you'll know when to avoid an attack and when there's an opening to hit the monster.

Eat Defense Boosting Foods

Food Skills
Before you go off on a hunt, it's recommended to eat a Defense or an Elemental Res meal first. These are the safer options to go for since you should only go for Attack meal if you're confident in dodging or blocking the monster's attacks.

Use Defense Boosting Items

Items
Similar to the previous tip, it's recommended to bring defense-boosting items like an Armorskin or Armorcharm with you so that you can get a further Defense increase when you're out hunting.
