Monster Hunter Wilds can be relatively easy, especially in the early game. Check out how difficulty works and the different ways to make the game easier or more challenging here!
List of Contents
Monster Hunter Wilds is easy and should be smooth to breeze through during the early missions! This means that new players can easily get comfortable with the game.
Hunting Tips and Beginner's Guide
Veterans will certainly have an easier time once they enter Wilds. This is because the already have an idea on how to deal with monsters on top of knowing the ins and outs of the game. Without a difficulty spike, nothing should stop them from reaching the end.
The game will give you a lot of upgrades and materials at the start. An example of this would be Gemma giving you free materials once you talk to her for the first time.
When you can target a specific item, monster or even a location while riding your Seikret, it will automatically rush to your target. Thanks to this, players won't be lost anymore, and memorizing the terrain isn't necessary.
Seikret Mount Features and Abilities
Monster difficulty is dependent on the number of hunters in a quest. The difficulty automatically adjusts whenever a player leaves or joins the quest, making it favorable for players with an unstable internet connection.
Multiplayer Guide: How to Play Co-Op
Players | Monster Health |
---|---|
2 | 1.6x |
3 | 2x |
4 | 2.4x |
The health and resistance of the monster will increase as the number of players in the quest increases. The table below shows how much the monster's health will increase according to the number of hunters in a quest. Support Hunters also count towards the number of players, meaning if there are 3 Support Hunters in your party, the monster's health will increase by 2.4 times its usual health.
Quests in the game have their own difficulty levels indicated by the amount of stars on the quest. Quests with more stars will be more difficult as these monsters are intended to be fought with better weapons and gear.
You'll also eventually unlock High Rank quests which feature monsters that are stronger than those encountered in the previous rank.
Monsters that are found on higher difficulty quests are naturally stronger than those found in lower difficulty quests. However, just because they are the same monster does not mean that they have the same difficulty. The monster's strength is indicated by the amount of diamonds above their icon and may vary per quest.
Unfortunately, you cannot change the game's difficulty level. The strength, health, and behavior of monsters all depend on your current rank.
Do note that a monster's health is also affected by how many hunters there are in a hunt, and will be actively adjusted depending on the party size.
Hunter Rank Farm Guide and Unlocks
The game will generally become harder as your hunter rank grows. New challenges will certainly rise once you reach High Rank, but not without access to better gears!
There are many ways to spice up your hunts. One possible challenge is doing a speedrun of the entire story. This way, you have to memorize all of the monster's patterns and make sure all of your attacks are dealing as much damage as possible.
You could also test your limits by fighting monsters without armor or weapon upgrades! This way, you're forced to predict the monster's movements and dodge them as much as possible.
A surefire way to make hunts easier is to optimize your skills. Mixing and matching different armor sets to activate different skills will be more beneficial than only wearing one armor set that may not benefit you as much.
Builds and Best Armor for Each Weapon
Learning the monster's moveset will also help you in your hunts. This will help you strategize further and know when it is safe to attack and when to expect an incoming attack.
Cooking and using defense-boosting items will also make your hunt easier. With resistances and added defense from these, you'll have better survivability during hunts!
Lastly, calling in allies with an SOS Flare to help you with your hunt is always an option if you think you cannot handle the monster alone.
