The entirety of Monster Hunter Wilds revolves around the game's quest system. You can select various quests from Alma, your Handler, or from quests boards, where you can also check the possible rewards you can get from each quest.
You can also check if the map that the quest is situated in has any weather or climate systems, which you need to prepare for.

Health and stamina are one of the main resources that you need to actively look out for when hunting. Your health will dictate how many hits you can take before you faint, and your stamina will determine how many times you can attack with your weapon or how long you can sprint or dodge roll.

Your main way of travelling around the map will be with your Seikret, which can help carry you across great distances and even scale some walls.
You can also set up Pop-up Camps across each locale, which can act as a mini-base, and can also be used as a fast travel point.

Items are essential in every hunt, as you can heal up, restore stamina, and remove status ailments with these, among other uses. You can craft items before and during any hunt, and you can also use extra supply items which are given to your for free every quest.

You don't need to solo hunts, as you can send out SOS Flares to call on other hunters or summon NPC Support Hunters if you are playing offline.
Hunting Assistants can also show up in certain maps, wherein they can give you a little help during hunts.

Your weapon and armor are vital in hunting, as these dictate the skills and how much damage you can deal or how much damage you can take from a monster's attack.
As you go through the game, you will be forging various weapons and armor to keep up with tougher monsters. During hunts, it's also important to keep your weapons sharpened or switch to a second weapon if you need to change tactics.

There are various mechanics that are related to hunting monsters. It is very useful to be familiar with these as these can help you fight tougher monsters.

Some monsters are able to inflict elemental blights which can easily debilitate your hunt as these have various effects when you are afflicted with it.
You can cure these blights with Nulberries, so try to recover from these as early as you can!

Underwater combat is available during the Lagiacrus hunt which was added in Title Update 2. Your offensive options will be limited while swimming underwater, which makes it challenging while facing the Lord of the Seas!

Material Retrieval is Monster Hunter Wilds' farm system. NPCs can help you gather various materials passively while you go on hunts.

Item Trading are available from certain NPCs in various locales. They will sometimes offer rare items that you can get without heading out in the wild to gather them.

Smelting at the Oilwell Basin lets you recycle materials into Armor Spheres and Artian Weapon ores, which you can use to upgrade armor and Artian Weapons.

The Melding Pot in Suja, Peaks of Accord allows you to get various decorations and Artian Weapon shards. You will unlock more melding options as you progress through High Rank.

The Support Ship is an item shop that appears at the base camp every few days. You can get various items, materials, and even some weapons here in exchange for Guild Points.
