Burst provides increased raw and elemental damage bonuses after landing 5 attacks consecutively. The damage bonus increases as you go up in levels, with the actual increase varying per weapon.

*The Element boost for Bowguns cannot be confirmed as their base elemental values are not displayed.
While Burst is equipped, the first hit gives 5 raw attack and 50 element (30 for Bow and Dual Blades). After 5 hits within the window, the buffs will increase to the values above. The extra stats from Burst differ per weapon. In general, ranged weapons get a lower boost because they can easily deal the five hits required to get the extra boost.
Note that Burst does not affect Status at all and will only affect the raw and element damage.
Burst Duration is 3 to 5 Seconds

The window to maintain the maximum boosts from the Burst skill also varies per weapon. Most weapons have around 4 seconds before the buffs expire. Slower weapons have up to 5 seconds while weapons that easily deal multiple hits only have 3 seconds.
Extend Burst Duration with Burst Boost
Equipping Burst Boost by wearing Guardian Ebony armor extends the duration by up to 2 seconds longer while providing a bigger Attack bonus.
