Is Monster Hunter Open World?

No, But It is the Biggest and Most Open Yet

While Monster Hunter Wilds is not an open-world game in the traditional sense, it features large, seamless areas and a smooth flow between story, quests, and the base camp. This makes the game the largest and most open Monster Hunter experience to date.

One feature new to Monster Hunter Wilds that contributes to its openness is that the Base Camp, or the Gathering Hub, is located within each locale, and not a separate location anymore.

Currently, there are three different announced locales. These locations are separate from each other will most likely have different Base Camps. Each of these locales will have different weather or environmental effects that will drastically change how they look and how monsters interact with the environment.

Not Open World Multiplayer Either

Monster Hunter Wilds will feature 100-player lobbies where players can freely interact with each other at Base Camps, however, players will cannot just freely join you on your hunts. Similar to past games, players post quests and then others will be allowed to join.

You can change several Quest Settings so that you can play solo, with Linked Members, with Support Hunters, or any player in the lobby!
