Description
Known to the people of Azuz as the Black Flame, it reigns as the apex predator of this region.

A Cephalopod-Like Monster

The Black Flame is the second cephalopod-like monster in the Monster Hunter series after Nakarkos from Monster Hunter Generations.

It is important to note, however, that Nakarkos is classified as an Elder Dragon, while we still do not have an official classification for the Black Flame.

Its True Name is Unknown

Other than its first appearance in the game's 5th trailer, we have not gotten new information about the Black Flame, including its true name.

The Black Flame Attack Patterns

Move Explanation
Ignite
The Black Flame ignites its body, setting its body aflame. This appears to be a buff attack, so no actions are required to dodge it.
Flame Breath
The Black Flame will a stream of fire at you. This attack can be blocked, but seems to constantly drain Stamina, so it is recommended to either dodge or keep your distance instead.
Grab and Burn
The Black Flame will grab the hunter and after a delay will breath fire on the hunter. There appears to be a short window where you can escape by stabbing the Black Flame's tentacles. Whether or not this attack instantly kills you is unknown.
