Use the Smelting Foundry

Smelting Foundry

Another reliable way to farm Armor Spheres is by using the Smelting Foundry in Azuz at the Oilwell Basin. This facility will let you use monster materials and other items to make Armor Spheres.

Investigations and Armor Spheres

High-level Investigations, which can be saved as regular quests, will sometime give rarer Armor Spheres as rewards. If you are farming for Decorations or Artian Weapon parts, you can naturally farm Armor Spheres as you complete these hunts.

Complete Limited Bounties

Armor Sphere Limited Bounty

Heavy Armor Sphere obtained from a Limited Bounty quest.

You can get high ranking Armor Spheres such as Heavy Armor Spheres by completing Limited Bounty quests. They cannot be farmed consistently but they provide a huge surge of Hard Armor Spheres which are hard to come by so be sure to complete them when able.

Be warned that Limited Bounty quests will not appear when playing in offline mode.

Some Event Quests can give plenty of Armor Spheres as rewards upon completing them, and these are repeatable until the quest is available.

For example, the Tongue-Tied Event Quest hands out Hard and Advanced Armor Spheres as rewards for completing the hunt.

Quests can naturally provide Armor Spheres and is a great way to passively increase your Armor Spheres. You can tackle quests with your desired monsters as well to gain missing materials to craft missing armor or weapon pieces to complete your build.

You can also trade materials with Gawdygog but to trade with him, you'll need to trade using Ancient Wyvern Coins which aren't obtained naturally. The Smelting Foundry can be unlocked after defeating Nu Udra. Once done, you'll be able to unlock the refinery and smelt your materials for Armor Spheres.
