Best Damage Skills

These skills make it possible to deal extra damage! Aim for these skills for maximum DPS to defeat those monsters easier and finish those quests faster!

Best Skills	Explanation
Offensive Guard ★★★	Grants percentage attack boost when successfully using a perfectly timed guard against an enemy attack, which a Lance player can do, especially with Perfect Guard.
Weakness Exploit ★★★	Since the Lance will always be in front of the monster, targeting wounds would be easy. This amkes Weakness Exploit a great skill to have for the Lance!
Agitator ★★★	Great source of damage and affiity for the Lance. Considering most of the monsters are angry especially in the late game, this skill will trigger all the time.
Critical Boost ★★★	Amplified critical strike damage. Works well with Weakness Exploit and the Lance's ability to hit wounds with ease.
Antivirus ★★	Increases affinity when being cured of Frenzy. This is best used at full level 3 with 2 piece Gore Magala to get Black Eclipse, granting you a temporary increase affinity increase up to 25%.
Maximum Might ★★	Grants boosted affinity so long as your stamina bar is kept full. This is fine to have on the Lance since you do not consume stamina on nearly all combos and on most blocks.
Resentment ★★	Increases damage when there is red health in your HP bar, which you will get from chip damage while guarding attacks. Can be a bit situational since you'd want to Perfect Guard and trigger Offensive Guard instead.
Burst ★★	A great source of raw and with how Lance can attack in quick succession in Wilds, it is easier to maintain Burst uptime now.
Element Attack ★★	Lance can also be a great elemental damage weapon beacuse of its capability to deal multiple and consistent hits.
Critical Status ★★	Improves status buildup with the Lance, and is especially useful when using a Paralysis Lance.
Slugger ★	Lance now have access to moves that deal blunt damage mostly from shield attacks. It is now easier than ever to weave these moves in, so Slugger could be a supplementary skill to consider.

Best Comfort Skills

These are skills that make managing weapon mechanics a lot easier. Damage is only part of the equation - taking time to slot in comfort skills that increase consistency & comfort will also increase overall DPS!

Constitution ★★★	Lowers stamina drain when guarding attacks and guard dashing to close out monsters. Very useful for the Lance as a comfort skill.
Master's Touch ★★★	Every time a critical strike hits, this skill has a high chance to prevent your weapon from losing sharpness. This is an ideal skill for most high affinity builds and for weapons with manageable sharpness.
Handicraft ★★★	Increases the sharpness of your weapon. The Lance repeated pokes eats through sharpness quickly, so this paired Razor Sharp a good comfort skill to have.
Razor Sharp ★★★	Has a chance to negate sharpness loss on hit. Unlike Handicraft, this is not an absolute sharpness boost but is very well a great skill to have especially on long, white sharpness weapons.
Guard ★★★	Lowers the capability of an attack to stagger you when guarding powerful attacks. Helps you get on your feet quicker!
Guard Up ★★	Enables you to Guard attacks that are normally unguardable with the Lance. Improves overall defense, but can be quite hard to slot in since it's a Weapon Skill.
Evade Extender ★★	Increases the evade distance of Lance's unsheathed hops. Only slot this in if you want more mobility with the weapon, but this will mostly be ignored if you're playing with counterattacks.
Evade Window ★★	Enables the Evade Lance playstyle which has you back-evading attacks instead of guarding them. Very high skill ceiling, but is viable if you can make it work!
Razor Sharp ★★	Lowers sharpness degradation with the Lance.
Quick Sheathe ★	Increases sheathing speed for the Lance and can be helpful in some situations.
Speed Sharpening ★	Reduces a cycle for sharpening with each level.

Hello, and thank you for the question! The Best secondary weapon we recommend for the Lance is a Charge Blade or any Bowgun, since they can benefit from Resentment. While the Lance can be paired with most weapon types based on your playstyle, we don't recommend pairing it with the Bow or Dual Blades, since they rely on Stamina Surge-focused builds. Hope this helps! :)
