Flash PodFlash Pod Large Dung PodLarge Dung Pod Max PotionMax Potion
DeodorantDeodorant Mending MantleMending Mantle Rocksteady MantleRocksteady Mantle

For Mantles, we recommend taking Mending Mantle as it can heal you even when you get inflicted by Paralysis or Stench. A great alternative would be the Rocksteady Mantle as well since it allows you to keep executing combos without any interruption.

The most notable items to bring are Deodorants, Antidotes, and Nulberries. These combat Congalala's Breath and Fart effects, which can range from Stench, Poison, and Blastblight. Congalala may also inflict Paralysis, but there's sadly no item to combat that, only the Paralysis Resistance Armor Skill.

Before hunting Congalala, make sure to bring healing items such as Potions, Mega Potions, and Max Potions. Keep in mind to bring Flash Pods to blind the monster and Large Dung Pods to get rid of the small Congas that get in your way. If Congalala's belly keeps getting in the way of your attacks, try to utilize Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps to open up damage windows for you and your team.

How to Beat Congalala

Congalala Monster Fight Tips

Bring Deodorants to Cure Stench and Blastblight

As Congalala's Stench prevents the usage of consumable items, it is important to carry Deodorants to the hunt to quickly remove the debuff whenever needed. It is also good to make use of Purewasps that you can find in the environment is these can remove most negative status effects as well.

Bring Antidotes to Cure Poison

Congalala may also inflict Poison and Paralysis, depending on if it ate certain types of Mushrooms. Bring Antidotes or Herbal Medicines to be able to combat the Poison. Unfortunately, no item cures Paralysis so you may have to look into supportive Armor Skills such as Paralysis Resistance to deal with it.

List of Armor Skills

Kill the Congas First

Monster Hunter Wilds Kill the Congas First

The Congas that accompany the Congalala may not deal much damage, but they can interrupt your attack combos and leave you vulnerable to attacks. As such, it is important to take them down first before fighting the Congalala.

You can also make use of the Large Dung Pods as they are effective towards dispersing most of the Conga pack.

List of Small Monsters

Take Note of What Congalala is Eating

Take Note of What Congalala is Eating

The properties of Congalala's Fart and Breath attacks will change depending on what food it eats. If Congalala eats a purple Toadstool mushroom, it will inflict Poison. If it eats a yellow Parashroom, it will inflict Paralysis. Finally, if it eats a red Nitroshroom, it will be able to inflict Blastblight.

Remember you can stop it from eating these mushrooms by interrupting it mid-snack. But be prepared regardless if it eats a mushroom or not.

Focus on Attacking the Head

The Congalala's head is its weakest point, so make sure you focus on this specific part when you start unleashing all your combos. Additionally, breaking the horn on its head will also yield more rewards so try to destroy it whenever you can.

How to Break Monster Parts

Avoid Attacking the Belly

The Congalala's Belly is perhaps its toughest body part so performing attacks on it will deal the lowest damage, especially if the Congalala inflates it. Avoid attacking the belly as Congalala tends to attack with it whenever you stay there for too long.

Use the Environment to Gain Advantage

Interact with Flashflies, Dark Hornet Nests and use traps to disrupt the Congalala and gain advantage during the hunt. Keep in mind that Screamer Pods and Meat traps will not be effective against Congalala.

How to Set and Activate Traps

Congalala Attack Patterns

Moveset and Openings

Attack Description
Claw Swipe
A basic attack where the Congalala swipes with its claws. Dodge to the side or block the attack by timing the movement of its arms.
Consecutive Swipes
The Congalala will jump back and slash forward three times before going prone and vulnerable. Avoid this by dodging away, or by blocking and take advantage once it is open for attacks.
Enlarge Belly
The Congalala will inflate its belly and slash at you or slam down. Any melee attack on the inflated belly will bounce off, so go around the Congalala and attack it from behind.
Fart
The Congalala will fart, applying Stench on any hunter near enough to be hit by the fart cloud. Use a Deodorant to clear Stench, as it will prevent you from using your healing items. If the Congalala has eaten anything recently, that food will change the effects of Fart.

You can also dodge this attack by distancing yourself from the Congalala as soon as it prepares to release the gas.
Breath Attack
Only performed after eating, the Congalala will unleash a breath attack in a line in front of it. The effects of the breath attack will changed based on what the Congalala has eaten such as Paralysis, Poison, and Blastblight. Go behind the Congalala to attack or distance yourself as it releases the gas.
Jump and Slash
The Congalala will jump back and leap forward with a slashing attack. Dodge this by blocking or by sprinting to the side from a good distance.
