If you are looking to get a crown-size encounter for a specific monster, you can use the Wounded Hollow method to reroll the active monster's size. You can then use this to farm for gold crowns for all monsters that can appear in the arena.
Do note that this method only works for monsters in the Wounded Hollow, and does not work on other locales.
| 1 | ![]() Head to Wounded Hollow and check the active monster. |

| 2 | ![]() Use your Binoculars to determine if you already have a gold crown-sized monster. |
| 3 | ![]() If it's not a gold-crown sized monster, fast travel to Suja, Peaks of Accord and rest in your tent, then head back to Wounded Hollow. This will reroll the active monster's size, but the monster will not be changed. |
| 4 | ![]() Check the monster's size again with your Binoculars. Repeat Step 3 if you still did not get a gold crown one. |
| 5 | If you get a gold crown-sized monster, you can save the target as a quest. You can even share it with other hunters in our Crown Quest Sharing Board! |
There are several monsters that you can encounter in the Wounded Hollow. The monsters listed above can appear in the arena, so you'll be able to attempt to check if they are crown-sized.
Do note that the Apex monsters do not show up in the Wounded Hollow, so you'll have to naturally encounter them.
To find monsters with Gold Crowns, simply explore the map until you encounter one. Since spawns are random, checking all present monsters is the only way to spot them.
You can check if a monster has a Gold Crown by using the Binoculars. This is a fixed item that you can use at any time during your progress.

If you can't find anything in the current area, move to another and continue exploring and scanning monsters. Check all areas, and if you're lucky, you’ll find a large monster with a Gold Crown.
Interactive Map and List of Locations

If you can't find any Gold Crowns in any location, fast travel back to a base camp to rest. This will reroll the spawns the next day, increasing the chances of monsters carrying Gold Crowns.

Once you located a monster with a Gold Crown, you can turn it into a quest from the map. This is a great way to fight the monster with other hunters, as larger monsters are typically harder to defeat.
If you're playing offline, go ahead and fight it. But if it gets too difficult, you can call support characters instead. After getting the Gold Crown, go back to step one and repeat the process.

Monsters with crowns will only start appearing in Chapter 4-2 or on High Rank. If you haven't reached this yet, progress through the game first to unlock them.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Gold Crowns can be obtained by doing event quests. Currently, the only event quest that offers a guaranteed Gold Crown is That Won't Work on Me! as a part of the Blossomdance Event .
Festival of Accord: Blossomdance Event Guide

Successfully completing the quest That Won't Work on Me! will give a guaranteed Xu Wu Gold Crown. This quest is a part of the Blossomdance Event available from April 22 ET to May 6, 8PM ET.
Event Quests Schedule and Rewards

The only way to get Gold Crowns is by defeating large versions of certain monsters, which spawn randomly each day. Be sure to go on Multiplayer to turn the encounter into a quest. This will also share the Gold Crown with everyone in your party!

You can track all the monsters you've defeated with Gold Crowns in the Monster Encyclopedia. This is a good way to see which monsters to focus on next and count all the crowns you've earned from each.
To access this, simply open the menu and check the Information tab. You can find the Monster Encyclopedia there.

Collecting gold crowns allows you to earn three trophies. Although no specific number is indicated to get them all, the silver trophy requires at least 10. Make sure to collect more than that to unlock all three trophies.

If you're quickly aiming to get the trophies related to gold crown monsters, you can skip hunting those with silver crowns as these are only tied to one achievement. You will also get the achievement if you encounter a gold crown monster first, so there's no need to waste time hunting silver crowns if you are in a rush.
Silver crown sizes are also recorded in your Monster Encyclopedia, but are replaced once you encounter gold crown-sizes.
