How to Catch Sandstar
Use Screamer Pod and Capture Net to Catch Sandstar
 Use Screamer Pod on to the SandstarUse the Capture Net to Catch the SandstarGhillie Mantle Does Not WorkIf the Sandstar Runs Away, Continue Chasing it Until it Stops |
The Sandstar will flee when you get to close, even with the Ghillie Mantle equipped. Use the Slinger to fire a Screamer Pod to stun it, before going near to catch it with the Capture Net.
Set Up Pop-Up Camp in Area 13 for Easier Checking
To have an easier time checking if the Sandstar spawned or not, set up a Pop-Up Camp in the Oasis in Area 13.

All Sandstar Locations
The Sandstar can be found in Area 11, 13, and 16 of the Windward Plains. If it does not spawn in the areas, you can fast travel to a different area before traveling back to Area 13 then do another sweep rotation of checking.
The Sandstar Can Only Be Found At Night
The Sandstar will only show up in the area during Night Time. It is recommended to begin hunting at the start of the night to have more time in locating the Sandstar.
The Sandstar can spawn on any of the three weather events in the Plains.

Nocturnal desert creatures with pale, luminescent fur that is believed to be the result of the insects they primarily feed on. They usually spawn during the Fallow and Plenty season, but you also have a chance of spawning one during the Sandtide Inclemency weather.

Anonymous 9 monthsI captured mine while mounted on a Seikret. It took a good while running after it but at some point during the chase, it stopped running and jumped around in-place long enough for me to net it.
