Monster Hunter Wilds does not introduce any new weapon types, instead focusing on refining the existing 14 weapon types. Each has been slightly adjusted to better suit the game’s unique monsters and environment.

Each weapon type now features improved gameplay adjustments tailored for new monsters and environments in Monster Hunter Wilds, with updates ranging from minor move additions for some weapon types to significant reworks, such as for the Hunting Horn.

The new Focus Mode mechanic allows hunters to zero in on monster wounds. Each weapon type also has specialized moves that make the most of this mechanic, such as the Bow’s Focus Fire: Hailstorm, which targets multiple wounds with a flurry of arrows.

Hunters can now equip and swap to a secondary weapon in their loadouts to switch to during hunts. This allows versatile loadouts, pairing short and long-range weapons, or adding support capabilities like the Hunting Horn, or a weapon with a status ailment as a secondary to enhance your playstyle.
