Get Meal Invitations from villager NPCs by clearing Optional Quests on each area in Monster Hunter Wilds. See this guide to know how to trigger Meal Invitations, all food skills you can get from each meal, and which are the best meals to go for!

How to Get Meal Invitations

Clear Optional Quests

The villagers will sometimes invite you to a free meal as a way of thanking you for solving their village's problems. Clearing Optional Quests at an area sometimes prompts meal invitations!

There's currently no specific trigger to meal invites, but ranking up and clearing quests can get meal invite prompts to show!

Azuz Meal Invitation

Meal Buff Explanation
Carver Meal Icon Carver Meal Lets the hunter carve more parts of a defeated monster.
Insurance Meal Icon Insurance Meal Fainting while Insurance Meal is active will not be counted toward quest results. Gives the hunter one extra try at completing a hunt without additional penalties and can only be activated once during its duration.
Tumbler Meal (Hi) Icon Tumbler Meal (Hi) Extends the invulnerability period when evading.
Note: Only the first three buffs are permanent and other buffs that follow are always randomized!

These are all the meal buffs you can get by eating a Meal at Azuz, The Everforge located at the Oilwell Basin. Talk to Maki after getting a meal invite to activate these buffs!

Azuz The Everforge's Meal Buffs will last for 90 minutes before expiring.

Maki can often be seen as helping other villagers at Azuz, so wait and talk to her once she's available after the Meal Invite prompt appears. If she's unreachable or resting inside a building, go inside your Camp to Rest and adjust the time and weather before checking again.

Kunafa Meal Invitation

Meal Buff Explanation
Lucky Meal Icon Lucky Meal When active, Hunters have a chance to receive more rewards at the end of a quest.
Insurance Meal Icon Insurance Meal Fainting while Insurance Meal is active will not be counted toward quest results. Gives the hunter one extra try at completing a hunt without additional penalties and can only be activated once during its duration.
Defender Meal (Hi) Icon Defender Meal (Hi) Often decreases damage taken.
Note: Only the first three buffs are permanent and other buffs that follow are always randomized!

These are all the meal buffs you can get by eating a Meal at Kunafa, Windsong Village located at the Windward Plains. Talk to Y’sai after getting a meal invite to activate these buffs!

Kunafa's Meal Buffs will last for 90 minutes before expiring.

Y’sai can often be seen roaming around Kunafa, so find and talk to him once he's available after the Meal Invite prompt appears. If he's unreachable or resting inside a building, go inside your Camp to Rest and adjust the time and weather before checking again.

Sild Meal Invitation

Meal Buff Explanation
Capture Pro Meal Icon Capture Pro Meal Gives the Hunter a chance to receive up to four rewards after capturing a monster.
Insurance Meal Icon Insurance Meal When active, it gives the hunter one extra try at completing a hunt without additional penalties and can only be activated once during its duration.
Moxie Meal (Hi) Icon Moxie Meal (Hi) Prevents fainting one time and heals you when damage taken exceeds your remaining health.
Note: Only the first three buffs are permanent and other buffs that follow are always randomized!

These are all the meal buffs you can get by eating a Meal at Sild, The Keepers' Vigil at the Ruins of Wyveria. Talk to Tasheen after getting a meal invite to activate these buffs!

Sild's Meal Buffs will last for 90 minutes before expiring.

Tasheen is often roaming around Sild, the Keepers' Vigil, so talk to him once he's available after the Meal Invite prompt appears. If he's unreachable or resting inside a building, go inside your Camp to Rest and adjust the time and weather before checking again.

Suja Village Meal Invitation

Meal Buff Explanation
Exploiter Meal Icon Exploiter Meal Gives the hunter chance at getting extra drops when destroying wounds.
Insurance Meal Icon Insurance Meal Fainting while Insurance Meal is active will not be counted toward quest results. Gives the hunter one extra try at completing a hunt without additional penalties and can only be activated once during its duration.
Caprice Meal (Hi) Icon Caprice Meal (Hi) Repeatedly activates a large temporary attack boost at random intervals.
Note: Only the first three buffs are permanent and other buffs that follow are always randomized!

These are all the meal buffs you can get by eating a Meal at Suja Village. Talk to The Allhearken after getting a meal invite to activate these buffs!

Suja Village's Meal Buffs will last for 90 minutes before expiring.

The Allhearken often roams around Suja Village so simply talk to her once the Meal Invite prompt appears. If she's unreachable or resting inside a tent, go inside your Camp to Rest and adjust the time and weather before checking again.

Grand Hub's Canteen

Updated Canteen

You can enjoy all of the locale's meals and get their respective food skills at the Canteen but with a cost of the locale's specific voucher or a Pick-a-meal Voucher.

Canteen meal effects last for 70 minutes before expiring.

Defender Meal (Hi) Icon Defender Meal (Hi) Often decreases damage taken.
Gatherer Meal Icon Gatherer Meal Sometimes increases the number of resources per gather of bones, ore, and other gatherable items.
Riser Meal Icon Riser Meal Extends the invulnerability period when evading.

While not a Meal Invitation per se, a special meal is available at the Grand Hub's Canteen during the Blossomdance Festival. Blossomdance Vouchers are needed to get this meal at the Canteen.

Moxie Meal (Hi) Icon Moxie Meal (Hi) Prevents fainting one time and heals you when damage taken exceeds your remaining health.
Swimmer Meal Icon Swimmer Meal Increases attack when wet.
Balanced Meal Icon Balanced Meal Prevents you from getting knocked on your butt.

Another limited-time Canteen meal is the Flamefete Barbecue Meal, which is only available during the Flamefete Festival. A Flamefete Voucher is needed to claim this meal.

Meals That Give Extra Carves

Eating Carver Meals or getting Food Skill buffs like Pro Carver lets you carve monsters more times than usual, so this is one of the best buffs to have when hunting!

Carver buffs may have a chance to be triggered by getting a Meal Invitation from Maki at Azuz, The Everforge.

Eat meals that provide Stamina Boost for some Elemental Resistance and reduced Stamina cost.

Stamina is always consumed with almost every action of the Hunter, and having reduced stamina cost for all actions make fights easier to handle, especially when doing consecutive hunts and investigations.

Insurance meals or food buffs like Moxie (Hi) are extremely great to have when hunting. This allows hunters to keep their rewards after fainting or getting carted once.
