The Throwing Kunai is an indispensable tool that can be used effortlessly and continuously. Much like the BBQ Spit and the Whetstone, the Throwing Kunai will forever remain in your item pouch. It fits into a specific item slot so that it doesn't take up precious inventory space!
A temporary Kunai can be collected and used during rampage quests called Exploding Kunai. Exploding Kunai explode like Barrel Bombs on contact with any surface.
Some quests, such as those with Kushala Daora, have Kunai that can inflict status ailments in the Supply Box. Poison Kunai are the most common, but Paralysis and Sleep Kunai also exist. These are supply items only, meaning they can't be crafted or kept after a quest, so be sure to use them!

Only the Sword and Shield can throw kunai with the weapon out! Trying to use it with any other weapon while the weapon is unsheathed will cause you to sheathe it first before you can throw the knives.
Donning the Akuma Layered Armor changes your Kunai into Gohadoken. His mid-air Zanku Hadoken can also be performed with this layered armor!

The Throwing Kunai has many uses as it is a versatile tool that can find purpose in many situations. It deals a small amount of damage, often only in the single digits, but what it lacks in damage it makes up for in usability.
A Throwing Kunai can be a good ranged trigger for Large Barrel Bombs and Mega Barrel Bombs since triggering these bombs in a short-range can knock you off your feet and deal damage.
This can be useful for accessing certain areas in the Flooded Forest and the Jungle.
Using the Throwing Kunai to attack Endemic Life, specifically the Scale Lizard, Rock Lizard, and Boulder Lizard makes them drop more materials compared to the regular interaction.
Throwing Kunai at a Pincercrab in the Sandy Plains will cause them to start firing earth. Use this to your advantage when a monster is around the area!
Attacking these bushes with Kunai can get you Spiribirds without having to resort to the long animations of weapons like the Great Sword or attacking while mounted on your Palamute.
If a Monster has not spotted you yet, you can get its attention by using a Throwing Kunai. This tactic is ideal if you set up a Pitfall Trap or Shock Trap in the path of the monster or if you placed Trapbugs on the ground to make it flinch.
You can even try throwing Kunai when monsters go to hard-to-reach places like Khezu when it clings to ceilings.
You can use your Throwing Kunai while riding your Palamute to deal quick damage as the Large Monster you are fighting runs away!
Throwing Kunai at the boulders in Area 1 of the Jungle will cause them to fall. Any monster right below it will take damage. Dropping more boulders can even cause them to topple, creating a large opening!
