Defeating Congalala marks the completion of the Forest Findings quest in Chapter 1, and side missions are now unlocked. Side Missions can now be initiated by talking to different inhabitants in each region.
Forest Findings Mission Walkthrough
Progressing through Chapter 4 would require the hunter to increase their hunter rank in order to progress to the next mission. Sidequests are a great way to increase your Hunter rank, as they provide a lot of Hunter rank points upon completion.
Side missions are an alternative way to gain additional items and materials. Completing side quests provides the hunter with rewards based on the type of side mission completed.
In addition to breaking up the monotony of normal hunting, Side Missions are a great way to earn additional rewards and Hunter Rank points.

Hunters are tasked with catching certain species of fish with the fishing rod. The species required vary from region to region, and the hunter must exhaust all fishing spots to obtain the fish.
Fishing Guide
In this type of side mission, the Hunter is tasked with hunting certain monsters. The Hunter will be asked to turn in a monster material gained by participating in the hunt. Side missions that prompt the hunter to kill a monster will become an Optional quest.
