| Ward of Wyveria | 3 | Reduces elemental and unique damage while in the Ruins of Wyveria. |
Ward of Wyveria is activated on taking elemental damage and 'unique' (Guardian explosion) damage within the Ruins of Wyveria, reducing a portion of the damage taken.
In context of 'unique damage', it activates on receiving white, guardian-effect attacks dealt by Guardian monsters such as the white area-of-effect explosions from Guardian Seikrets and Guardian Fulgur Anjanath.
This effect will often not trigger for the Guardian-based attacks, however, if you're knocked back by the physical part of the attack first (such as the Seikret's talons or Anjanath's charge) before the white explosion.
Activates Against Zoh Shia in Dragontorch Shrine
Doing the Zoh Shia Investigation transports you to Dragontorch Shrine. Although this area is not part of the overworld and can only be accessed when doing this investigation quest, Guardian's Protection activates in this location.

・To better see the effects of Ward Wyveria, armor sets with matching or close Elemental Resistances are tested against elemental projectiles. ・Physical contact attacks (with paired elemental effect) will cause the result to depend also on Defense numbers. |

Based on testing, there is little benefit into solely building around the group skill Ward of Wyveria for added Elemental Resistance — much less so that it only works in Ruins of Wyveria.
It is better you prioritize on other skills like Second Wind, then stacking Elemental Resistance and Defense instead through other means. Ward of Wyveria can serve as an added bonus instead if you have 3 armor piece matches from great armor sets like G. Fulgur.
