Assists in Initiating Sneak Attacks
The Ghillie Mantle can be used to sneak up on unsuspecting monsters undetected to deliver a sneak attack that deals significant damage to the target.
Note that the Ghillie Mantle will stop working once the Hunter performs an attack or is hit, so be prepared for the fight that will follow.
Use the Ambush Skill to Increase Damage

Players can also use the Ghillie Mantle while equipping the Ambush skill. Combining the item and skill can sufficiently increase a player's initial DPS on a Large Monster, as it can give them an early attack boost after a successful sneak attack.
Capturing Endemic Life
While most Endemic Life can be captured with the Capture Net without much difficulty, some can be quite elusive, such as the Sandstar, as they will flee if the hunter gets too close.
In situations like this, the Ghillie Mantle can be quite useful, as it would not alert the Endemic Life to the hunter's presence, allowing them to capture it.

Sneak by the Enemy
The Ghillie Mantle can also be used to cross parts of the map undetected. This is useful when the Hunter wants to avoid unnecessary combat.
Can Be Used To Temporarily Retreat
The Ghillie Mantle can also be used to temporarily reduce the monster's aggression towards you, giving you a chance to retreat from battle.
This can be used in many ways. Primarily, it can be used to perform actions that make the hunter vulnerable, such as consuming potions or using the whetstone to restore weapon sharpness.
Can Be Used in Multiplayer Mode
In multiplayer, this allows the hunter to temporarily retreat and the monster will automatically target someone else. This can be used in conjunction with Luring Pods to manipulate the aggression of the monster.
This gives the allied hunters some breathing room if they need it, or the opportunity to do other things like set traps.

As an Essential item, the Ghillie Mantle is automatically part of the player's inventory and can be used whenever it is off cooldown during a hunt. It can be used to assist the hunter in remaining undetected and can be used for stealth attacks if desired.
Effect Timer Stops While Not Moving
While the Ghillie Mantle's effects only last two minutes, its effect timer stops whenever players are not moving. This feature gives players more time to plan their movements strategically when sneak attacking or sneaking past enemies.

Assign Ghillie Mantle as Radial Menu Shortcut
Players can assign the Ghillie Mantle as one of their Radial Menu shortcuts to equip it outside or during battle quickly. Additionally, equipping the Ghillie Mantle this way allows them to equip it without sheathing their weapons.
