How to Get Damaged Weapon Shard
Quest and Bonus Rewards for Hunting Tempered Monsters
Players can obtain Damaged Weapon Shards as Bonus and Quest Rewards for hunting Tempered Monsters and completing Investigation Quests involving them. Specifically, 5-star investigation quests involving Tempered Monsters award Damaged Weapon Shards.

Consume Existing Artian Weapon Parts
Players can use the Melding Pot at Suja, Peaks of Accord, and consume existing Artian weapon parts to make Damaged Weapon Shards, which automatically get appraised after melding.
The feature to use the Melding Pot to create Damage Weapon Shards unlocks during the Storm-Cold Vortex quest in Chapter 5.

Instead of consuming existing Artian Weapon Parts, players can also convert Wyverian Bloodstones and its variations to melding points. Then, players can use the melding points to make Damaged Weapon Shards!
How to Use Damaged Weapon Shard
Appraised as Rarity 6 Artian Parts
Damaged Weapon Shards give rarity 6 Artian parts used to make Artian weapons of the same rarity. Like other weapon shards, Damaged Weapon Shards get appraised and converted into Artian parts and materials automatically once an investigation quest is over.
However, aside from part rarity, other aspects of the produced part, like its Type, Element, and Artian Bonus, are completely randomized upon appraisal.
