Guardian Rathalos Plate has a 3% chance to drop as a target reward from a Low Rank Guardian Rathalos. It also has a 5% chance to drop when carving its body and a 7% chance to drop when carving its tail. It is highly recommended to slay the monster instead of capturing it so the player will have 3 extra chances to get a Guardian Rathalos Plate from carving it.
Guardian Rathalos is highly susceptible to Dragon elemental damage, so it is recommended to equip a weapon with that elemental damage when going to hunt it.

Due to its low overall drop rate, it is also highly recommended for the player to sever the tail of Guardian Rathalos when hunting it.
Tails can only be cut by weapons that deal severing or cutting damage. Try to use Shock Traps to hold a monster in place, coupled with the Partbreaker skill to cut the tail quickly.
Be mindful not to kill the monster before cutting its tail. Otherwise, you'll miss out on the extra carve!

His Eternal Reign Optional Quest
When going to hunt Low Rank Guardian Rathalos, it is recommended to take the His Eternal Reign optional quest. This will guarantee Guardian Rathalos spawning in the Ruins of Wyveria and the player will have a chance to get the Guardian Rathalos Plate drop from the quest rewards.
