You can get Xu Wu Umbragems faster by completing Xu Wu Investigations with Xu Wu Umbragem as a bonus reward. Exhaust your Investigations first for the extra materials before doing Optional Quests.

Cutting the arms of Xu Wu is recommended as it gives you extra carves.
Arms can only be cut by weapons that deal severing or cutting damage. Try to use Shock Traps to hold a monster in place, coupled with the Partbreaker skill to cut the arms quickly.
Be mindful not to kill the monster before cutting its arms. Otherwise, you'll miss out on the extra carve!

Opposition Optional Quest
When going to hunt Xu Wu, it is recommended to take the Opposition optional quest. This will guarantee Xu Wu spawning in the Ruins of Wyveria and the player will have a chance to get the Xu Wu Umbragem drop from the quest rewards.
