The Bale armor build has a lower recommendation rating than our other sets, as it requires using a riskier playstyle and is most effective only with the Shadowbringer. It can be powerful if you can consistently trigger Eventide with The Blackest Night and reliably do level 3 charges. We still suggest trying it out for fun, but you can always build other sets.
Do I have to use the new one from the FF collab to be meta and do enough dps to not be kicked and insulted or is the Rey/Lagi one underneath still viable? I'm a veteran from the old games but since World the playerbase has shifted so heavily into toxicity where everyone uses DPS emters and flames teammates for not doing the 100% benchmark so I'm mostly in the loss. Everyone just wants to speedrun everything in a minute these days. I'd rather wish people played for fun again.
Also because of this discovery, not running Offensive Guard for 15% Attack would be just downright stupid, giving us a good reason to get rid of the heavily reduced value CritBoost2 deco and slot in OG/Handicraft for OG3 Handicraft1. (You could also use OG/Ironwall for Guarding unblockables, if you want to style on Jin Dahaad) Lastly because we are stacking more %Attack, the Varianza should be built as 3x Sleep+Attack, with ideally all Infusions Att, for 230 Raw 5% Crit GS.
So following the discovery we tested all of the Raw and Crit modifying skills in the game and there is no other set in the game as of now which can fulfill the same amount of Raw and Crit as the one attached, making it now actually truly the most Damage optimised set in the game. Self-Improvement won't trigger in fights under 5 minutes long but neither does any other 1 slot bring value to the build in that scenario.
As the game matures we find more. GS can proc Counterstrike with Offset attack, Clash or Shoulder Tackle Hyperarmor and hav practically 100% uptime for 25 Raw, making it the best 2-slot Deco for the weapon type without competition.
There is one last consideration where you might drop 2 levels of CB + Focus, if you are confident in being able to Perfect Guard to proc lvl3 Offensive Guard for 15% Attack regularly, that way you could want to drop the core Flayer set for Gore 2 piece for 15% Aff from frenzy and 15% from Antivirus + E.Dmg from Coalescence. You'll need different Ele Swords and Ele Decos for monsters, but if you're good at Offset Slashing almost every opportunity, your average hunt time MAY be better.
Lastly the way the Flayer, Decimator and Partbreaker work in conjunction with GS, you will never want to run less than 2 flayer and the set bonus (Until Burst, the skill, interaction with FocusBurst is figured out) with Partbreaker as they all affect eachother. So given those requirements the set and sword provided below is the best damage driven set for GS, which is proven by math and live runs. Running Dahaad WEX+AGI helm instead will end up same core but you trade 2slot for 1slot.
Running Max Might 3 without G.Fulgur means you're giving up 3x 3 deco slots worth of real estate for only 30% Affinity, plus 2 slots and 1 slots for Stamina surge and the Constitution and whatnot is proposed here to make it actually work "comfy". (While G.Fulgur 2-set just does all that for you for no added cost), while Agi5 gives +20 raw and 15% crit for "only" 5x 3slots. The 20 raw is same as 4 Attack rolls on Artian and you really want close to 100% Crit with 5CB. 1/2
Maybe I'm confused but what does stamina consumption have to do with the validity of affinity? I understand you may be using more stamina against tempered monsters, but with good positioning i have max might uptime almost 100% of the time i'm attacking? This allows your artian rolls to be much more dmg/element focused while keeping 100% affinity.
You would pair this armor set up with a Varianza that was ideally built as 3x Sleep+Affinity parts and landed on 35% total Affinity on the weapon with 3 +Affinity rolls and the rest 2 rolls in +Attack. That way landing hits to Enraged monsters' wounds will reach 100% Crit chance with Crit Boost 5 and Agitator 5 doing heavy lifting for damage.
If you want an ideal endgame set to aim for before TU1, attached is a picure of the set that's optimal for dealing damage. Running Max Might without G.Fulgur 2-set is just worthless against most Tempered monsters. Mind, the Chest piece here is Arkvulkan Mail with WEX.
Last note about the Artian II (And later Varianza) is that if you want to use slightly comfier version that you don't have to sharpen even once during a hunt (Assuming you're only perfect guarding and not bonking on hard parts) you can try to drop one Affinity roll from the GS to end up with something like: 2 Aff, 2 Att, +30 Sharp. If you built the GS with 3x Aff parts, you will end up with 30% Affinity which translates into 95% Crit chance on enraged wounds with 5WEX(50%) + 5Agitator(15%)
As far as the Artian GS goes, just take the first Artian I that you can craft and roll with it, because Artian II will be coming less than 5 hours later. And as for Artian II you will want either a Raw damage one (Easiest to roll +Att/Aff lines), Status one with preference on Sleep>Para=Blast (Harder to roll only Aff/Att, because Status is also in the pool) or DRAGON ELEMENT (for HR40 Arkveld) with all 3 pieces being dragon type. (As hard to roll as Status GS, for similar reason)
Everything armor-wise in this page should be just ignored as G.Arkveld LR armor will carry you all the way, until Jin Dahaad armor at HR34, with how insanely good Flayer and Arkveld's Vitality is for Greatsword. Just keep it upgraded and eat for resistance against Jin Dahaad fight as he is the only one until that point in the game, who can literally oneshot you from full health. Heck, I used G.Arkveld LR armor until I got my hands on the HighRank version at HR41.
Hello! We've updated the page on the Artian weapon element suggestion. Our High Rank Great Sword builds are tailored to players looking for recommendations in improving their setup as they progress. If you're still comfortable with an older build, it's alright to skip some progression builds and check back on our suggestions whenever you’d like. Hope this helps!
How do you get an artian weapon with all elements as displayed here? Also when can I meld for specific decos? I've been unlucky with random decos so far. Currently at HR. Perhaps that build will be obsolete soon anyways as it's intended for HR 20 to 40. Still using guardian arkveld set for now paired with rathalos gs and I'm still doing fine.
Thanks for pointing this error out! The G. Fulgur Vambraces has been updated to display the intended information. Please consider looking at our other guides as well!
the G Fulgur gloves a. does not have 2 decoration sockets. Did you mean to put the b variant instead for 1 less agitator?
