You will be able to farm for Prime Fern as soon as you get access to the Master Rank map of the Jungle.
You can obtain this item from Fern Patch gathering nodes around the map. You can use also your Palamute when you go on expeditions to farm certain items as you can use their Sniff 'em Out! ability to help you look for farming nodes!
| 1 |  Climb the cliffs to the east of the Base Camp to reach the first Fern Patch. |

| 2 |  Move down the cliffs while going east. You'll find the next Fern Patch near the edge of a cliff. |
| 3 |  Make your way to the top of the Area 1 plateau. The ferns should be near Area 2. |
| 4 |  The next Fern Patch is on the cliffs of Area 2, but don't look for it around the peak. |
| 5 |  Go to Area 8 and look for the next gathering node by the base of the huge tree. |
| 6 |  The 6th patch is nearby in Area 6. You'll easily find it by climbing towards it. |
| 7 |  Travel to Area 7 and check the side of the large stone arch for the next one. |
| 8 |  Drop down to the beach for the last Fern Patch on the route. |
