Hi there! We tested this out and having Lvl 2 Geologist will enable you to get one more item from every gathering point, EXCLUDING mining outcrops. We tested it in Shrine Ruins on Shimmering Red Berries without having Lvl 2 Geologist and we collected only two items from it. Then we tested it again with Lvl 2 Geologist and we instead got three items. Hope this clears it up! It might have been a bug on your end, so you may want to test it more.
what is exactly Lv 2 referring to, because after some testing it seems like I wasn't gathering more of anything. At first, I assumed it meant everything but that didn't sound right, after testing in flooded forest collecting mining outcrops, bone piles, bugs, various ammo plants, herbs, and honey it seems like I was gathering the same amount with and without lv 2 geologist.
