Durin is an extremely flexible off-field support DPS who can fit on most team comps in the game while having little to no Energy Recharge requirements (depending on Elemental Skill Level). Durin mostly helps older characters in the game that aren't part of the Nod-Krai meta, but his kit is also future-proofed to help future characters who may need Durin's support. Because of this, we're immediately placing him at the highest tier for his accessibility. Light Form Consistent Pyro application with RES shredding, and currently the best-in-slot Pyro off-fielder for Burning, Double-Geo, Swirl, and especially Overloaded teams with Chevreuse and Fischl. Dark Form Focuses on his personal damage specializing in Vaporize or Melt. While Dark Form isn't his best form overall, it allows on-field drivers like Hexerei Mona to shine. |

| Strengths | |||
|---|---|---|---|
|
• Is able to increase the team's damage and his own by merely being part of the team, with the Hexerei buffs skyrocketing these supportive and damage-enhancing benefits. • Can cycle between providing support and being the source of frontloaded damage, with his damage being focused on his Elemental Burst, streamlining his build towards the uptime of this attack. • Fulfills one character out of the two needed to activate Hexerei buffs, and can slot into a variety of teams due to the flexibility of his DMG bonus passive. |
|||
| Weaknesses | |||
|
• A good chunk of Durin's DMG and RES shred is locked behind Hexerei teams, keeping him from reaching his full potential if placed anywhere else. He is still usable but is highly incentivized to be run within these team comps. • Durin's kit is mostly frontloaded, delegating most of his damage to only his Elemental Burst, making him highly reliant on his Burst procs if he wants to contribute damage in a fight. |
Durin on both White and Dark Forms focuses on applying or triggering Pyro-related reactions while off-field. With that in mind, his Sub-DPS builds are focused on stacking ATK% and CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG.
In addition, if Durin is the main source of damage especially in his Dark Form, Elemental Mastery sub-stats are also needed to boost his overall damage.

Noblesse Oblige is the go-to build for Durin if nobody else is using it on his team like Bennett. You may use Emblem of Severed Fate or a mix of 2-piece ATK otherwise.
For weapons, his signature weapon, Athame Artis, is his Best-in-Slot for most cases. Good alternative weapons are Freedom Sworn and Wolf-Fang as they cater to his playstyle and provide team buffs.

On a Burgeon build, you'll want to to have triple Elemental Mastery stats to provide a boost to his transformative reactions.
For weapons, Athame Artis remains his BiS weapon. Alternative weapons for more EM are Freedom-Sworn and Lion's Roar.
| Stat | Goal Value |
|---|---|
| ATK | 2000 or above |
| CRIT Rate | 60% ~ 70% |
| CRIT DMG | 200% or above |
| Energy Recharge | Little to no Energy Recharge needed if Skill is Crowned |
Durin wants to have at least 2000 ATK to maximize his A4 passive, which grants an additional increase in his damage based on his ATK.
CRIT Rate or DMG is the second priority as its generally the best at all-around damage boost. A fair balance of it should suffice.
For his Energy Recharge requirements, if you have his Elemental Skill leveled up to 10 (which provides flat amounts of Energy), you won't need to build any Energy Recharge on Durin.
However, if he's solo-Pyro, you may use an additional Energy Recharge stat of 110%~140% if needed.

|---|---|---|
| Elemental Burst | Elemental Skill | Normal Attack |
Durin's source of damage comes from his Burst and Skill and would be the best priorities to level up.
Normal Attack is best used for on-field DPS Durin for his Dark form.
As of 6.2, Durin has no BiS Artifact set that is catered to him. Most builds opt to use artifact sets that has stats that Durin might want.
• Noblesse Oblige is generally the best artifact set that he currently has due to his Burst-oriented playstyle.
• Emblem of Severed Fate for a similar reason to Noblesse but with an added ER bonus to it; and
• Crimson Witch of Flames is a far third as Durin can't maximize its 4-pc Bonus Effect as he only uses his Skill twice at best.
It's best to used Artifact Sets that will help Durin on the team archetype the he is in.

Durin's main stat priorities when it comes to weapons are CRIT and ATK that centers around Elemental Burst, which makes Athame Artis his general BiS weapon.
Other than that, Freedom-Sworn is a good alternative due to how it provides ATK% buff on top of Normal Attack, and Wolf-Fang is Durin's best 4-star option for its similar buffs.

Durin's team comps are separated by his two forms: White and Dark Forms.
• White Form is more catered to supportive roles with his RES Shred and applying consistent Pyro aura to enemies with his off-field AoE DMG.
• Dark Form, on the other hand, is more catered to his personal damage and his role is more suited to triggering reactions, especially Melt and Vaporize. In this form, he can be used as as an On-Field DPS.
It's imperative to remember when team building with Durin is that functions the best when paired with another Hexerei member to access and utilize his buffs.
However, even at the loss of DPS, he can still be slotted in teams that does not have another Hexerei member.
Hexerei: Secret Rite Buffs Explained
| Character | Explanation |
|---|---|
|
|
Sub-DPS Mona enables the maximum potential of Durin's Dark Form Elemental Burst with her Vaporize buffs and extended Omen duration, making them a good pair to run if using Durin as a potential frontloader. |
|
|
Main DPS Venti and Durin piggyback off one another, with Durin greatly increasing the DMG that Venti can do due to Durin's A1 passive, and Venti can reliably swirl Pyro around, which can possibly enable Viridescent shred for Durin if Venti is running it. |
|
|
Sub-DPS Fischl now stands out as a premier Overload unit for most Overload teams, which Durin is happy to be part of. Both of their presence together is enough for a Pyro DPS to take advantage of and thrive off of. |
|
|
Main DPS Klee and Durin can both benefit one another via Pyro Resonance and Hexerei buffs, both serving as cores for either Vaporize, Melt, or Overload teams. |
|
|
Sub-DPS Albedo functions more as a flex buffer alongside Durin's well-rounded buffs, letting them slot into teams where they both want to buff their Main DPS. |
|
|
Support Durin and Sucrose enable each other in nearly the same way as Venti and Durin would, but with the added guarantee of Sucrose having buffs and RES shred for the team due to her almost always running Viridescent Venerer. |
|
|
Main DPS Razor and Durin benefit each other by nature of both being Hexerei members, enabling one another's buffs. In specifics, Razor and Durin can both serve as core members of an Overload team if a Sub-DPS like Fischl is not available. |
Durin's main priority in these teams is to Burst in his White Durin form in order to activate the DMG buffs from his A1 passive.
He normally requires less investment, only needing his Energy Recharge to be on-par to ensure that he can cast his Elemental Burst every 18 seconds to take his Buff uptime to near-permanent status.

Durin's C1 is no doubt his best value constellation due to it providing him with Cycle of Enlightenment stacks, which buff both his DMG and supportive capabilities depending on the form he uses.
C2 is the next-in-line for Constellations to stop at due to the sheer DMG bonus it brings to any elements that revolve around Pyro reactions.

With the introduction of the Hexerei Team Buffs, Durin being considered as one of its beneficiaries tends to be played with other Hexerei members to benefit from the buff.
The buff gives Durin more potency for his Elemental Burst, increasing his RES shred with White form and Vaporize and Melt with Dark form.
However, its important to emphasize that this doesn't restrict Durin's potential at all.
Hexerei: Secret Rite Buffs Explained
| Radiant Wingslash |
|---|
| Performs up to 4 consecutive sword strikes.
Charge Attack Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to perform a slash toward the front. |
Durin's Elemental Skill allows him to enter two binary forms:
• Pressing Elemental Skill twice will make Durin enter the Confirmation of Purity (White) state, which is primarily used as an off-field support that shines in providing a RES shred debuff against enemies.
• Doing a Normal Attack after an Elemental Skill will make Durin enter Denial of Darkness (Dark) caters to Durin's personal damage, increasing his Vaporize and Melt damage.
| Binary Form: Convergence and Division |
|---|
| When Durin activates his Elemental Skill (E), he can choose to enter either the Confirmation of Purity (Special E) or Denial of Darkness (Special NA) state. Upon entering a state, he restores a certain amount of Elemental Energy, gaining access to different enhancement effects and preparing to unleash different Elemental Bursts. Confirmation of Purity: Immediately deals AOE Pyro DMG to nearby opponents. Denial of Darkness: Immediately deals multiple instances Of pyro DMG to opponents in front. |
Durin's Elemental Burst will function different depending on which state you executed it.
• In White Form, triggering Pyro-related reactions will shred the enemies' RES on Pyro and the element involve in the reaction. His off-field Pyro DMG will also turn AoE but less damage.
• In Dark Form, Durin's personal damage increases by buffing his Vaporize and Melt DMG, making him viable for
| Chaos Formed Like the Night |
|---|
| After unleashing an Elemental Burst, Durin gains the Primordial Fusion of Forms effect for 20s: Durin gains 10 stacks of Primordial Fusion. When a periodic attack from Dragon of White Flame or Dragon of Dark Decay deals DMG, I stack of Primordial Fusion witl be consumed to increase the DMG dealt by 3% of the original DMG for every 100 ATK. A maximum of 75% additional DMG can be dealt this way. When a single attack from Dragon of White Flame or Dragon of Dark Decay hits multiple opponents, only one stack of Primordial Fusion is consumed.
Primordial Fusion stacks are reset when the Elemental Burst is unleashed again. |
| Echoes of the Surging Earth |
|---|
| Gains 25% more rewards when dispatched on a Mondstadt Expedition for 20 hours. |

Durin's buffs enhances the effects of his Elemental Burst in both forms. Making his RES reduction in White form and DMG boost to Vaporize and Melt reactions more potent.

I wouldn't recommend Raiden for Main DPS unless she's C2 or higher. The off-field electro application from her skill is still useful in Overload teams.
