Adventurer Handbook Description | |
A strange, alien machine. They say that it is a war machine left behind by a nation that has already been destroyed. Composed of several different parts, it can adapt to its combat environment and employ a variety of attacks. This machine, comprised of cubic shapes, is on some level very much like the elemental hypostases. |

We recommend bringing characters who can deal Elemental DMG more often than not. Defeating the Perpetual Mechanical Array will be a lot quicker especially with the Melt or Vaporize reactions.
When the Perpetual Mechanical Array loses a certain amount of HP, it will go on the defensive and protect itself with a barrier while summoning four Ruin Enemies.
You must defeat the marked Ruin Enemy for the Perpetual Mechanical Array to get out of its Defense Form. Unmarked Ruin Enemies will take no DMG so focus on attacking the marked one.
After defeating the marked Ruin Enemy, the Perpetual Mechanical Array will lose its barrier and will be immobilized for a period of time. Go all out with your strongest attacks when it's down before it manages to get up and be able to fight.

The Perpetual Mechanical Array locks in on a target and shoots a powerful laser at their exact location. Use the short period between the target lock and the attack to dodge out of the attack's AoE!
The Perpetual Mechanical array summons a Ruin Crusher, Ruin Destroyer, Ruin Defender, and Ruin Scout to fight you while the Mechanical Array itself stays dormant. Group the machines together and unleash a powerful AoE attack to damage them all at once!
The Perpetual Mechanical Array turns into a rocket and slams down onto a player. The attack's AoE is shown before the Mechanical Array hits the ground, so dodge out of it at the last minute!
The Perpetual Mechanical Array turns into a cube and rushes towards the player. Keep your distance and dash out of the attack AoE to avoid getting stomped on!
The Perpetual Mechanical Array begins spinning and thrusts itself towards players. The attack's range is small, so shield up and hit it during this attack pattern!
The Perpetual Mechanical Array takes the shape of a sword and swings itself at a player. The swing goes downward, so dashing to the side at the right time will easily let you avoid the attack!

To get to lower the water level and remove the barrier above the Perpetual Mechanical Array boss area, you need to get the Memento Lens from a different chain of world quests and solve several puzzles.
1 | Get the Memento Lens from the Strange Story in Konda Village quest chain. |
---|---|
2 | Go to the large round structure in Araumi, north-east of the nearby waypoint. |
3 | Use the Memento Lens to scan the Three Fox Statues. |
4 | Three switches will appear that you need to press. |
Nearby Puzzles and Rewards: Optional Side Trip 1: • Bring an Electrogranum with you before going down the opening. • Go through the nearby barrier and use Electro on the Fox statue here to get the Ward Scroll. • This way you can purify the nearby shrine whenever you want. Optional Side Trip 2: • Find the two seelie and open the large, round door to the north-eastern side of the island for easy access. • One is floating above the pillars near the door, the other is floating over some fox statues by the first spinning cube puzzle. |
|
5 | Down below, solve the first spinning cube puzzle by making the outer cubes face the same way as the middle cube. This will lower the water level once. |
6 | Go down the hole in the ground close to the cube puzzle. |
7 | Swim all the way to the end where you will find a staircase. If you run out of stamina, rest on the various entry ways on the way there. |
8 | At the top of the stairs, activate the mechanism to open the gate door. |
Optional Item: • In a nearby pile of dirt, you can find an Old Stone Slate. |
|
9 | Turn around and solve the second cube puzzle. This will lower the water the final level. |
Puzzle Tip: • It might be easier to solve if you make the second and fourth cube face you first, then use the first, third, and fifth to spin the rest into place. |
|
10 | Head out the gate and down to another round door on your left. |
11 | Activate the nearby mechanism to open it.. |
12 | Continue inside and you’ll eventually find yourself at the top layer of the Perpetual Mechanical Array boss area and the barrier should be gone! |
