Bloom is an elemental reaction in Genshin Impact that is triggered when Dendro and Hydro meet. See how to trigger Bloom, best characters to trigger it, and the best teams for this elemental reaction!
Bloom is the elemental reaction when Dendro meets Hydro, or vice versa. Any unit that has an aura of either of the two elements will immediately result to Bloom!
Some Bouncy Mushrooms that are commonly endemic in the Sumeru Rainforests can spawn Dendro Cores when hit with Hydro!
Dendro Element and Reactions Guide
To trigger Bloom, simply combine Dendro and Hydro in any order. Any unit with an aura of either element that is hit by Dendro or Hydro, will spawn Dendro Cores that explode after a certain duration!
Dendro Cores are the resulting reaction between Dendro and Hydro that look like green fruits spawning where Bloom happened. Dendro Cores are indiscriminant when it comes to dealing damage, in that it inflicts damage to both enemies and allies!
Dendro Cores are reactive when hit by Pyro and Electro, which result to Burgeon, and Hyperbloom, respectively. This means Dendro Cores (except Bountiful Cores) created through Bloom are required to create those reactions!
Nilou is a highly-niche character who shines best in Bloom teams, due to her first ascension passive. And while it limits the team to Dendro and Hydro units only, the Bountiful Cores created from this passive are bigger, have larger AoEs, and explode instantly!
When you have a good Hydro or Dendro unit who can provide heals and shields for the team. |
When you want consistent Dendro damage with large AoE. |
When you're going against enemy mobs that are widely-scattered. |
Nilou Best Builds and Artifacts
It's not an understatement to say that Nahida is the best Dendro unit in the game right now. She has great Dendro application, impressive on- and off-field capacity, and she scales with EM, making her a good choice in most team compositions, including Bloom!
When you need an excellent Dendro driver or applicator who can sustain almost 100% Bloom uptime. |
When you want to further reward triggering Dendro-based reactions, such as Bloom. |
When you have a Hydro unit who can keep-up with Nahida's Dendro application. |
Nahida Best Builds and Weapons
Kaveh has recently (and indirectly) buffed Bloom teams because of his Elemental Burst, which increases the Dendro Cores' damage by a certain amount when they explode, while infusing his attacks with Dendro.
Kaveh's A1 passive enables him to heal the damage taken from core explosions thrice the amount of his EM, making him a really good fit for Bloom teams!
When you have well-built off-field Hydro and Dendro units who can consistently spawn Dendro Cores. |
When you want to further increase, and maximize Dendro Core damage without suffering from friendly-fire. |
When you want an aggressive DPS who has Dendro-infusion on both normal and charged attacks, while detonating Dendro Cores around your character. |
Baizhu is an excellent Dendro support who can provide self-sustaining shields and heals that can mitigate Dendro Core explosions.
But what makes Baizhu a good choice for Bloom (and other Dendro-based) teams is his fourth ascension passive that increases the DMG of Dendro-reactions!
When you need good sustain thru heals, and shields for your active character. |
When you want an excellent Dendro-reaction buffer, who scales off HP-stats. |
Kokomi has impressive Hydro application thanks to her Elemental Skill, which makes her viable for Bloom. Also, her top-of-the-line healing mitigates the self-inflicted damage of Dendro Cores, ensuring that the whole team stays alive throughout the entire rotation!
When you want to sustain the team with impressive heals, and to mitigate HP loss from Dendro Core explosions. |
When you want a Hydro Applicator who can decently apply the element in a wide AoE for a decent amount of time. |
When you have a Hydro unit who can keep-up with Nahida's Dendro application. |
Kokomi Ratings and Best Builds
Xingqiu on his own is an extremely impressive and flexible Hydro unit who can effectively apply Hydro consistently off-field, while providing damage resistance, and decent heal for the team.
This makes him a staple for most Bloom teams, and other transformative teams that require Hydro!
When have a Dendro unit who relies primarily relies on normal attacks to trigger Bloom. |
When you want to fortify the shield of your Dendro or Hydro unit to withstand damage from enemies, and Dendro Cores. |
When you want an excellent Hydro unit against a single enemy to constantly proc Bloom. |

In this Bloom team, Kokomi is the one who primarily triggers Bloom with Nahida, and the Traveler. To run this team, you must sacrifice a portion of Kokomi's healing capabilities by loading her with a full-EM set.
Don't worry about tanking core explosions, as you'll have plenty of room to run around, as this team has tremendous AoE potential! Also, you can replace Dendro MC with Collei for a wider Dendro application with longer reach!
