Strengths
• Sharky's Bite lets Mualani deal damage and mark opponents while increasing the damage she deals to them with the number of marks. • Damage is frontloaded, making her an extremely good choice for an Elemental Reaction like Vaporize. • Mualani's damage source comes from her own HP, which can be easily stacked with leveling, artifacts, weapons, and even Hydro Resonance. • Elemental Skill allows Mualani to ride through water, providing a quick way to travel around watery areas.
Weaknesses
• Her Sharky's Bite during Elemental Skill can miss when the enemy suddenly moves. Proper timing is required especially with the build-up she requires.

The Obsidian Codex artifact set is Mualani's best build, which provides an abundance of CRIT Rate and lets you stack CRIT DMG from substats. Focus on HP% and Elemental Mastery stats as well to ensure that her most important attacks benefit from as many multipliers as possible.

Since Mualani's HP scales with her health, you want to give her as much HP as you can while building up her CRIT stats, with the ideal CRIT Rate being around 40 - 50% due to it being bumped up by Obsidian Codex to 80 - 90%.

As for her CRIT DMG, aim for 200% at least or as far as you can go, since her CRIT Rate requirements are lower.

Obsidian Codex is the Best Choice

Obsidian Codex outshines the other two options solely because she can trigger Nightsoul's Blessing, and is something that Mualani can consistently trigger, leading to a near-unconditional 40% increase to CRIT Rate.

Other than that, Heart of Depth and standard 2-piece HP or Hydro DMG Bonus sets remain consistent choices for those still in the process of farming for 4-pc. Obsidian Codex or those deciding to settle on the artifacts, as their flat Hydro DMG increase is always welcome.

Mualani's Signature Weapon, Surf's Up, is tailor-made for both her kit and her Vaporize-centered damage style.

If her Signature is not available, then use HP weapons such as the Battle Pass Sacrificial Jade, or the Natlan free craftable Ring of Yaxche.

Mualani Works Best in Vaporize

Team comps specializing in Vaporize are Mualani's best teams as she can forward most of her attacks towards Pyro-afflicted opponents to trigger big Vaporize damage consistently.

Mavuika	Sub-DPS Mavuika can take half the responsibility of damage by being slotted as Mualani's Pyro Enabler. This also has the added benefit of having two frontloaded Elemental Bursts at the ready.
Xiangling	Sub-DPS Xiangling's still-unmatched Pyro Application and personal damage, as well as comfortable range of abilities almost guarantees that Mualani will vaporize her hits.
Xilonen	Support While Xilonen does not offer any damage or Elemental application, she effectively doubles Mualani's DPS with her RES shred as the length and potency of her Elemental Skill can more than make up for the lack of damage.
Thoma	Support Thoma's Elemental Burst ensures that his flames will reach the enemy shortly before Mualani's attack does, ensuring Vaporized hits. It also comes with the added benefit of providing survivability with his Shields.
Dehya	Sub-DPS With Dehya's Off-Field application, she can set up Mualani's vaporized hits but it comes with the caveat of requiring another off-field presence to proc her Elemental Skill's Pyro attack.
Traveler (Pyro)	Sub-DPS While the Pyro Traveler does not offer much Pyro application, Mualani does not need much either, making this a good combo especially if a Dendro unit is also present on the team.
Emilie	Sub-DPS Emilie can work in tandem with Pyro units that lack optimal Pyro application, as she can make up for it with the Burning status, enabling more teammates to work with Mualani.
Nahida	Sub-DPS Nahida's precise Dendro application allows her to trigger Burning, as well as increase damage in general using her Elemental Burst.
Furina	Sub-DPS While Furina is a Hydro unit, enabling Hydro resonance provides a direct damage boost to Mualani, and that is not counting Furina's extremely helpful Elemental DMG buffs. This power has the drawback of requiring more Pyro resonance in order to keep up Vaporize.
Kazuha	Sub-DPS More often than not, Kazuha will end up swirling Pyro when all elements are present, making him a prime candidate to buff Pyro and enable Vaporize.

Note that certain setups without a strong Pyro applicator like Xiangling may result in your other Hydro character vaping instead, which means setting up a proper rotation where Xiangling reapplies Pyro before Mualani can use her Sharky Bites is crucial.

Mualani works best in Vaporize teams due to most of her damage being front-loaded into her Shark's lunging bites.

With that in mind, pairing her with characters with good Pyro application like Xiangling, and a buffer like Furina, Kazuha, or Xilonen can help ensure that she can always Vaporize this instance of attack.

If you have enough Energy Recharge on Xiangling, you may use someone else like Dehya.

In addition, while out of combat, Mualani's Nightsoul's Blessing state consumes 30% less Phlogiston and Nightsoul points.
C2	Mualani, Going All Out! Mualani gains 2 of Surfshark Wavebreaker's Wave Momentum stacks when she enters Nightsoul's Blessing state. She will gain 1 stack when obtaining a Puffer. In addition, whenever Mualani obtains 2 Puffers within a single instance of the Nightsoul's Blessing state, she will recover an additional 12 Nightsoul points over 2s. Normal Attack

Normal Attack: Cooling Treatment
Performs up o 3 attacks that deal Hydro DMG. Charge Attack Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to smack a Pufferball into the air that deals AoE Hydro DMG upon landing. Plunge Attack: Gathers the power of Hydro and plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all opponents in her path. Deals AoE Hydro DMG upon impact with the ground.

Balloon Throwing Normals and Enhanced Shark Attacks

Mualani's Normal Attacks have her throw an assortment of water-based attacks with balloons and fish, whereas her Enhanced Normal Attacks have her leading her Shark to lunge onto an opponent.

Elemental Skill

Surfshark Wavebreaker
Combining her mastery of speed and the waves and water, Mualani can surf anytime, anywhere. After using this skill, Mualani will gain 60 Nightsoul points and enter the Nightsoul's Blessing state. Nightsoul's Blessing: Mualani Constantly consume Nightsoul points. When they are depleted or the skill is used again, Mualani's Nightsoul's Blessing will end. • Mualani mounts her Sharky Surfboard, increasing her Movement SPD and interruption resistance. • Normal Attacks are converted to Sharky's Bites, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Hydro DMG based on her Max HP. • When Mualani makes contact with opponents, she applies "Marked as Prey" and gains 1 Wave Momentum stack. Elemental Skill Allows Her to Surf Through Enemies

Mualani's Elemental Skill allows her to ride her shark mount as she continuously runs through enemies, marking them and increasing the amount of damage that Mualani does to opponents.

Her combos are special due to her somewhat infrequent Enhanced Normal Attacks during her Elemental Skill being the primary source of her damage.

Can Also Surf Through Water or Terrain

Sharky Surfboard also gives Mualani faster movement speed and higher interruption resist and gives her the ability to navigate through terrain, water, and liquid Phlogiston.

Use this as one of the many movement abilities given to you in Natlan.

Elemental Burst

Boomsharka-laka
Fires a Super Shark Missile that can track opponents, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Hydro DMG based on Mualani's Max HP.

Elemental Burst is a Large AoE Explosion

Mualani's Elemental Burst summons her shark to shoot towards her opponents, exploding for large damage in an AoE.

Her Elemental Burst is a form of Burst Damage to close out or open her damage rotations.

Passive Talent 1

Heat-Resistant Freshwater Puffer
When Sharky's Surging Bite hits an opponent, a generated nearby. Puffer will be Mualani will restore 20 Nightsoul points when she picks up a Puffer. Only 2 such Puffers can be created in this way during a single instance of being in Nightsoul's Blessing.

Extra Fuel for Her Elemental Skill

Mualani's A1 Passive allows her to sustain enough Nightsoul Points to charge up her Elemental Skill and hit the enemy with Surging Bite another time.

Use this as a way to squeeze in that last bit of DPS before needing to change off of her.

Passive Talent 2

Natlan's Greatest Guide
After a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Mualani will gain 1 stack of Wavechaser's Exploits, which lasts for 20s. Max 3 stacks. When she uses Boomsharka-laka, Mualani will clear all Wavechaser's Exploits stacks and increase the DMG of this Boomsharka-laka by 15%/30%/45% of her Max HP based on the number of stacks cleared.

Finish Fights with Mualani

Mualani's Burst gains more value whenever allies have their turns in dealing Elemental Damage, allowing her to exploit Nightsoul Burst by powering up her Elemental Burst.

Although not an active thing to consider, take note of this during her rotations so that you maximize the use of Nightsoul Burst.

Passive Talent 3

Night Realm's Gift: Crests and Troughs
After her Nightsoul points are depleted, Mualani will switch to consuming Phlogiston to maintain her Nightsoul's Blessing.

Back-up Fuel While in Natlan

Iansan	Mualani has always impressed me. She's never taken any formal fitness training, and yet her strength and physique are better than most of the students I've had. She actually did sign up for a class once upon a time, but never ended up coming along. Maybe water sports are just more effective at inducing all round muscle development? Who knows, but I suspect the key is her frame of mind. As far as I know, she's never gone out and trained with the specific goal of achieving a certain kind of body.
Kachina	Mualani's my first good friend! Before I met her, I never even knew that people as sweet as her existed, or how many fun things there are in the world! Look, this is a photo of us! She said we should jump right when they took the photo... I look a bit stiff? Hehe, you caught me! A lot of people were staring at us when we took this photo, so I was really nervous...
Kinich	I've taken jobs from her before. She offered to pay me to act as a "battle advisor," and the Mora was good, so I accepted. After working with her a few times, though, I noticed she's not exactly a pushover. When I pressed her about it, she eventually admitted that "battle advisor" was just code for mentoring Kachina in wilderness survival... So a "battle against nature," then. Hmm, I'd probably just call that "life." Anyway, that business is concluded, and I now have two new acquaintances.
Mavuika	In terms of personality, Mualani and Tupac are completely different, and yet both inherited the name, Umoja. Unity lies not in a particular action, but in a state of mind - a willingness to give your all for your nation, family and friends. But, I doubt Mualani was thinking about any of that back then. She knew one thing to be true - that Kachina's life was worth any risk to her own.
Mizuki	Ah, Mualani... She is the friendliest person I've ever met. I lived with the People of the Springs during my time in Natlan, and I never could have opened up my shop there without her help. She dragged me to the Speaker's Chamber, and just like that, I was face-to-face with the Pyro Archon with no warning at all, scared out of my mind... Her personality is like a wave, sometimes cresting high above the water, gliding deep beneath the surface, or even crashing straight against the shore. It's hard to keep up... Oh, her mental state? I don't think you need to worry. She's in a very good spot. If anything, I should go to her for therapy...
Varesa	There was this time when Coach Iansan noticed I'd overshot my target weight, and decided I needed a cutting phase. Since swimming's supposed to be good for fat-burning, she arranged for me to do an intensive program over at the People of the Springs territory. I'd be there swimming lengths, while Mualani was surfing around and towing Coach Iansan in a life preserver, so she could monitor my progress... Every day, she made me do pretty much the same distance as I do in my 30 thousand-step shuttle runs... shudder... Thank goodness Mualani was secretly slipping me some candy to keep my energy up. Otherwise, I don't know how I would have survived... I'm so grateful to her...
Xilonen	Mualani is an amazing athlete. I've never seen anyone make surfing or gliding on the Spiritways look so smooth or easy. In fact, I have yet to see Mualani ever slip up. Hmm? What would happen if a person or Saurian got in her way? Hmm, I'm pretty sure she would just scoop them up and keep gliding along.

Citlali	About Citlali Granny Citlali is without a doubt the most experience priestess I've ever seen. She's more than just an elder, she's like the coolest elder ever! Her predictions are always super accurate. A long time ago, she said the lucky colors for my business were pink and blue. Sure enough, pink and blue floaters are now my top sellers! While I was bugging her...uh, I mean, visiting her recently, she mentioned there was an outlander who could bring me good fortune... Ah, wait a sec! Aren't you an outlander!?
Iansan	About Iansan Iansan is the pride of the Collective of Plenty and all of Natlan. She's been part of so many Pilgrimages, and is still unbeaten to this day! I registered for her training class, actually, paid the tuition fee and everything. I just haven't started because, uh... I've been too busy to train... Okay, fine. I'll admit... When I saw what looked like when she finished her training, I heard a voice inside me say, "Hey, you belong in the water. Stay dry on land for too long, and you'll wind up stranded there." Sometimes, you've just gotta listen to your heart!
Ifa	About Ifa Ifa is the best! No matter what we invite him to do, he's always happy to join. And he's super quick and efficient at everything, too. If he wasn't already as a vet, I think he'd make a pretty great water sports coach. Hmm? Is he from a different tribe? Well, yeah, but that won't be a problem at all!
Kachina	About Kachina Kachina is incredibly gentle and kind. From everything she says, it's clear she always thinking about others. She has so many great qualities, but she's constantly overlooked and ridiculed because she doesn't stand up for herself. (sigh) I know she can handle herself, it's just... I worry about her lack of confidence. More often than not, she ends up believing the awful things people say about her. So, I've made it my personal mission to encourage her and share her strengths with all the people around me. I'm sure one day, everyone will see her in a new light!
Kinich	About Kinich Ajaw will say more in a day than Kinich in a whole year. It can't be easy having to deal with all of Ajaw's antics, but somehow Kinich always manages to do his own thing. Now that I think about it, the only time they seem equally uninterested is when I talk about horoscopes...
Mavuika	About Mavuika The Pyro Archon is the most respected figure in all of Natlan. I really admire her, not only because she's the Pyro Archon, but because... she looks super cool when she surfs! I've challenged her to a race before, actually... huh? You wanna know who was faster? In that case, let's race, and I'll tell you once you beat me!
Xilonen	About Xilonen If the Pyro Archon acknowledges a craftsperson, then you know she's good. Even if an Ancient Name got all smashed up, I bet she could make it good as new again. Wait, did I just jinx something? An Ancient Name absolutely cannot get smashed. That would be so bad. I take it back! I take it back! I didn't say anything. And you didn't hear anything either, alright?

Has to be the best looking character out of Natlan (most others look like clowns from a circus), but at the same time she's almost unplayable with that weird ass rotations and uncomfortable gameplay. Good job mihoyo
