Ronova Story and Lore

One of the Four Shades

According to Yohualtecuhtin, the Lord of the Night, Ronova is one of the Shades of the Heavenly Principles. Being a Shade, Ronova predates the existence of the original Archons, and could be traced back as early as the First Descender's descent in Teyvat, around the time when the Sovereigns were still the prime rulers of world.

Aside from Ronova, the other named Shade who coincidentally helped humanity as well, is Istaroth.

The Ruler of Death

Ronova is also known as The Ruler of Death, the entity who helped Yohualtecuhtin create the Night Kingdom which gave structure to Natlan's originally loose network of Ley Lines.

After his ascension, the first Pyro Archon, Xbalanque, also borrowed the power of Ronova to establish the rules of Natlan, paving the creation of the Pilgrimage, ultimately helping its citizens fight the Abyss without worrying about permanent death thru the Ode of Resurrection.

Got Cheated By The Captain

During the finale act of Chapter 5, Ode of Incandescent Resurrection, Capitano of the Fatui Harbingers, sacrificed himself in Mavuika's stead when Ronova was about to claim the Pyro Archon's soul at her request.

However, Capitano offered his life in place of Mavuika's, and planned to infuse his essence with Yohualtehcuhtin, rendering the Lord of the Night immortal in the process.
