Kinich Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths
• Scalespiker Cannon's damage scales massively, giving Kinich great frontloaded damage potential. • Elemental Skill lets Kinich evade enemy attacks without sacrificing DPS. • Elemental Burst is a good source of off-field AoE Dendro Damage that is flexible in its use, and also extends the duration of his Nightsoul Blessing during his skill. • Elemental Skill latches onto opponents and automatically targets them, eliminating any nuances when it comes to ranged opponents.
Weaknesses
• Scalespiker Cannon during his Elemental Skill can be shot 3 to 4 times per rotation, but the timing is strict and performs slower on teams that are not focused on Burning or Burgeon. • Movement during his Elemental Skill requires mastery for the foresight on where to go, especially when going to the glowing Blind Spot. • Is a single-target unit for the most part, requiring teammates or effective use of Scalespiker Cannon and Elemental Burst to deal AoE damage.

Building Kinich as a DPS

Kinich is a unit that utilizes his Elemental Skill to deal frontloaded Dendro DMG to opponents, and thus needs a good amount of CRIT stats to make use of Scalespiker Cannon's scalings.

With that in mind, opt to build as much CRIT DMG and ATK% as possible, getting enough CRIT Rate as needed depending on which build you choose.

In his best teams on Burning or Burgeon, Kinich uses Obsidian Codex as his best build for the massive CRIT Rate bonus every time he uses Nightsoul Points during his Elemental Skill. It also allows him to build CRIT easier building, letting him sit comfortably at +40% CRIT Rate alone.

An alternative to this is 4-pc. Unfinished Reverie for the 50% DMG increase only against Burning opponents, and Kinich will usually be running in teams that utilize Burn anyway, making this a solid option.

If you are opting to run Kinich as a standard Dendro DPS, you can opt for something like 4-pc. Gilded Dreams or other Elemental Mastery-centric Artifact Sets and run him in standard Dendro DPS comps like Spread and Hyperbloom.

Kinich fills the role of being the on-field Dendro Applicator to either deal Spread damage or generate bloom cores for the Electro unit to trigger, all while supplementing the team with his respectable damage.

Kinich's main priority is to get his ATK to around 2,000 or more, and then his CRIT Rate to 40 - 50% as that will scale to 80 - 90% while under the effects of Obsidian Codex's 4-pc. passive.

The rest of his stats go into CRIT DMG, taking it as far as you can go to increase the damage of his Elemental Skill.

Obsidian Codex is Kinich's best 4-pc. option due to the free 15% DMG increase and essentially free 40% CRIT Rate given to him whenever he uses his Elemental Skill.

Alternatives include 4-pc. Unfinished Reverie specifically for Burning teams, and a mix of 2-pc. Deepwood Memories and 2-pc. Golden Troupe to boost his damage while you farm for 4-pc. Obsidian Codex.

Fang of the Mountain King is Kinich's Best-in-Slot and Signature Weapon due to the damage buffs he gets to his Elemental Skill and Burst whenever he hits opponents with his Elemental Skill.

Other weapons include Beacon of the Reed Sea for the ATK% buff, Serpent Spine for the overall damage buff, and the Free-to-Play Earth Shaker for the Elemental Skill damage increase.

Kinich Works Best with Pyro

Kinich works exceptionally well in Burning or Burgeon teams due to his A1 Passive giving him more Nightsoul Points against opponents hit by Burning or Burgeon.

This passive alone lets him shoot one more Scalespiker Cannon during his rotations, which is a sizable addition to his already impressive damage.

Emilie	Sub-DPS Emilie is the premier Burn support when it comes to Kinich teams due to how consistently she can keep up the burn reaction for Kinich to take advantage of. She also brings formidable Dendro damage that perfectly synergizes with Kinich and his burn teams.
Bennett	Support Bennett is able to increase Kinich's ATK for a good portion of his Elemental Skill strikes if Bennett's Circle is casted right on the opponent and Kinich maintains close proximity to the opponent.
Mavuika	DPS/Sub-DPS Mavuika is able to provide both Frontloaded On-Field damage and Off-Field Pyro DMG in order to keep up the Burn reaction, as well as help with damage during Kinich's downtime.
Thoma	Support Thoma enables Pyro resonance, brings shielding, and contributes to the Pyro application of the team, being able to both refresh his shield and maintain the burn reaction.
Xiangling	Sub-DPS Xiangling performs a similar role to Mavuika but also has the same limitation as Bennett wherein Kinich must keep close to the opponent to make full use of Xiangling's kit.
Nahida	Sub-DPS Nahida can perform and fulfill a similar role to Emilie in Burn teams, but comes at the cost of not being able to contribute as much damage as Emilie would be able to.
Iansan	Support Iansan offers slightly better damage buffs than Bennett, but comes at the cost of Kinich losing out on either another Dendro unit or Pyro application. However, Iansan frees Kinich from being bound to the enemy at close proximity.
Furina	Sub-DPS Furina offers Elemental DMG Bonuses to both Kinich and the Pyro Sub-DPS, but relinquishes the team comp of either another Dendro unit or another Pyro unit, as well as removing the consistency of Pyro in the team.

Burning teams are one half of Kinich's intended team comps as his kit wants him to attack enemies who are currently in the Burning (or Burgeon) state to gain more Nightsoul points, while also benefitting allies like Emilie who both synergize well for this particular niche.

You may opt on using any off-field Pyro like Xiangling, Thoma, or Dehya as long as the Burning Aura doesn't fall off. Emilie is not required for Burning teams, so you may also use other Dendro supports like Nahida, Baizhu, or Collei for the Deepwood Memories effect coverage.

Burgeon teams are the other half of Kinich's intended team composition to accumulate Nightsoul points, utilizing at least one Hydro and Pyro. Thoma or Dehya are the best Pyro off-field characters you can use, as they provide slow off-field application as well as shields to protect you against the Burgeon explosions.

You may also use Kinich on Quicken teams with an Electro character just as fine as a Dendro carry, but do note that Kinich gains less Nighstoul points from not having a Burning or Burgeon reaction occur in the field, which leads to him shooting less Scalespiker Cannons for lesser damage overall.

Kinich can also function in a Quickbloom team as the Dendro applicator, allowing him to generate bloom cores for use by the Electro trigger.

One thing to keep track of is that his Elemental Skill puts him at range against an opponent, and sometimes an Electro trigger like Shinobu needs to be close to trigger bloom cores, and cannot do so if Kinich is sliding too much away from the source.

C2	Tiger Beetle's Palm When Kinich's Elemental Skill hits an opponent, it will decrease their Dendro RES by 30% for 6s. Additionally, the first Scalespiker Cannon Kinich fires after entering Nightsoul's Blessing has increased AoE, and its DMG increases by 100%.
C3	Protosuchian's Claw Increases the Level of Canopy Hunter: Riding High by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C4	Hummingbird's Feather When in Nightsoul's Blessing, Kinich will restore 5 Energy after using his Loop Shots or after unleashing the Scalespiker Cannon. Energy can be regenerated this way once every 2.8s. Additionally, Hail to the Almighty Dragonlord deals 70% more DMG.

Normal Attack

Normal Attack: Nightsun Style
Performs up to 3 rapid strikes. After using his Elemental Skill "Canopy Hunter: Riding High"'s mid-air swing, he can perform a Normal Attack in mid-air before landing. Charge Attack Consumes a certain amount to spin and throw his Claymore forward to attack opponents. Plunge Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Normal Attack: Nightsun Style

Performs up to 3 rapid strikes.
After using his Elemental Skill "Canopy Hunter: Riding High"'s mid-air swing, he can perform a Normal Attack in mid-air before landing.

Charge Attack
Consumes a certain amount to spin and throw his Claymore forward to attack opponents.

Plunge Attack:
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Elemental Skill

Canopy Hunter: Riding High
Kinich uses his big-game hunting skills to either move swiftly or attack his opponent. When there is an opponent or object that can be attacked nearby, he will attach a grappling hook to the target and enter Nightsoul's Blessing with 0 Nightsoul points. If neither is nearby, he fires a grappling hook forward and swings in mid-air, and this Skill's CD is decreased by 60%. This skill can be Held to release. When it is Held, Kinich can aim the grappling hook. Nightsoul's Blessing: Kinich Kinich's Nightsoul's Blessing lasts 10s and generates 2 Nightsoul points every second. In this state, Kinich will hook onto a nearby opponent and perform a variable attack: ·When using a Normal Attack, Kinich will fire Loop Shots as he loops around the grappled target based on his current movement direction, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Dendro DMG and generating 3 Nightsoul points. Loop Shot DMG is considered Elemental Skill DMG. ·When Nightsoul points are at max, he can use the Elemental Skill "Scalespiker Cannon": Consume all Nightsoul points to deal Nightsoul-aligned Dendro DMG. When "Scalespiker Cannon" is Held, Kinich can aim this shot. After firing the Cannon, Kinich will try to grapple to its target. While in Nightsoul's Blessing, after grappling an opponent or firing "Scalespiker Cannon," a Blind Spot will be generated next to the opponent. When Kinich enters this Blind Spot, it will disappear and he will generate 4 Nightsoul points. If the grapple connection should snap due to exceeding the maximum distance or some other reason, using a Normal Attack will establish a new connection with a nearby opponent before performing Loop Shots.

Canopy Hunter: Riding High

Kinich uses his big-game hunting skills to either move swiftly or attack his opponent.
When there is an opponent or object that can be attacked nearby, he will attach a grappling hook to the target and enter Nightsoul's Blessing with 0 Nightsoul points. If neither is nearby, he fires a grappling hook forward and swings in mid-air, and this Skill's CD is decreased by 60%.

Nightsoul's Blessing: Kinich
Kinich's Nightsoul's Blessing lasts 10s and generates 2 Nightsoul points every second. In this state, Kinich will hook onto a nearby opponent and perform a variable attack:
·When using a Normal Attack, Kinich will fire Loop Shots as he loops around the grappled target based on his current movement direction, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Dendro DMG and generating 3 Nightsoul points. Loop Shot DMG is considered Elemental Skill DMG.
·When Nightsoul points are at max, he can use the Elemental Skill "Scalespiker Cannon": Consume all Nightsoul points to deal Nightsoul-aligned Dendro DMG. When "Scalespiker Cannon" is Held, Kinich can aim this shot. After firing the Cannon, Kinich will try to grapple to its target.

While in Nightsoul's Blessing, after grappling an opponent or firing "Scalespiker Cannon," a Blind Spot will be generated next to the opponent. When Kinich enters this Blind Spot, it will disappear and he will generate 4 Nightsoul points.
If the grapple connection should snap due to exceeding the maximum distance or some other reason, using a Normal Attack will establish a new connection with a nearby opponent before performing Loop Shots.

Hookshot that Latches onto Opponents

Kinich fires a hook that latches onto an enemy, allowing him to slide around the opponent, maneuvering across the battlefield while dealing damage to the latched opponent.

With the enemy as the center point of Kinich's movement, he is free to move clockwise or counter-clockwise in a circle as he fights.

Charges a Power Shot

As Kinich fills up his Nightsoul Points, he can charge up a powerful blast that deals high amount of Dendro damage, using up all his Nightsoul Points and thus ending his Nightsoul's Blessing unless he has Phlogiston.

Can be Used to Fly Across Terrain

His Hookshot can also be used to navigate through Terrain by aiming it in the air, allowing Kinich to bypass rigid and dangerous areas by hoisting himself into the air.

Elemental Burst

Hail to the Almighty Dragonlord
Unleashes the power of the Almighty Dragonlord, K'uhul Ajaw (on a limited, conditional, restricted, contractual, partial, temporary basis), dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Dendro DMG. Ajaw will unleash his Dragon Breath at intervals, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Dendro DMG. If Kinich is in Nightsoul's Blessing when this is used, this Blessing's duration is extended by 1.7s.

AoE Dendro Turret Dragon

Kinich's Elemental Burst lets him summon Ajaw as a pixelated dragon to rain down fire on the enemy from above, creating a source of Off-Field damage for Kinich as he continues to stay On-Field to deal damage.

Passive Talent 1

The Price of Desolation
When Kinich is in Nightsoul's Blessing state, opponents hit by his Elemental Skill will enter the Desolation state, and when affected by Burning or Burgeon reaction DMG, they will restore 7 Nightsoul points to him. Nightsoul points can be gained this way once every 0.8s. The Desolation state will persist until this instance of Kinich's Nightsoul's Blessing state ends.

Passive Talent 2

Flame Spirit Pact
After a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Kinich will gain 1 stack of Hunter's Experience that lasts 15s. Max 2 stacks. When Kinich uses Canopy Hunter: Riding High's Scalespiker Cannon, all stacks of Hunter's Experience will be consumed, with each stack consumed increasing the DMG dealt by this Cannon shot by 320% of Kinich's ATK.

Passive Talent 3

Night Realm's Gift: Repaid in Full
When Kinich is in the air following Canopy Hunter: Riding High's mid-air swing, he can consume 10 Phlogiston points to perform another mid-air swing. While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, he can use Nightsoul Transmission: Kinich. When the current active character is sprinting, in movement states that result from specific Talents, or in the air, when you switch to Kinich: Kinich will perform one of the following actions depending on the conditions met: ·When facing a Coilgrass Sigil that can be interacted with: He will fire a grappling hook towards it to move; ·When there are nearby opponents and you are in combat: Kinich will use Canopy Hunter: Riding High in the direction of the opponents; Otherwise, Kinich will fire a grappling hook and swing, prioritizing valid Coilgrass Sigils as grapple targets. Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your own party. Night Realm's Gift: Repaid in Full

When Kinich is in the air following Canopy Hunter: Riding High's mid-air swing, he can consume 10 Phlogiston points to perform another mid-air swing.
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, he can use Nightsoul Transmission: Kinich. When the current active character is sprinting, in movement states that result from specific Talents, or in the air, when you switch to Kinich: Kinich will perform one of the following actions depending on the conditions met:
·When facing a Coilgrass Sigil that can be interacted with: He will fire a grappling hook towards it to move;
·When there are nearby opponents and you are in combat: Kinich will use Canopy Hunter: Riding High in the direction of the opponents;
Otherwise, Kinich will fire a grappling hook and swing, prioritizing valid Coilgrass Sigils as grapple targets.
Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your own party.

Chasca	When I first saw Ajaw, I thought ''Oh, Kinich has a saurian he treats like family, too''... Blissfully unaware of how far off the mark I was. Their relationship is... truly one-of-a-kind. Although I will say, Ajaw's mastery of the human language makes me pretty envious. I wish mom could talk like that, too, so we could do away with the whole body-language-based guesswork-game.
Citlali	The small thing that follows him around is a nasty piece of work. Oh, Kinich is a friend of yours? Huh, what else can I say about him... He's pretty reliable, I suppose.
Iansan	Kinich always does a great job whenever I need someone to hand-pick the best fruit from Varesa's orchard. Working with him would be a joy - if it weren't for that little monster he hangs around with ... He says the nastiest things. Someone really needs to teach him some manners. I'd very happily do that myself, of course - I'm sure one of my training programs would whip Ajaw into shape - and in fact I've offered that to Kinich before. But, he turned me down. I guess he has his own way of keeping Ajaw in line.
Ifa	Serious question: Does Ajaw technically count as a living being? When he came to see me for treatment, I gave him a very thorough checkup but couldn't find anything wrong with him. So I told Kinich, "Just bash him on the head a few times until he starts working again." And the moment Ajaw heard that, bro, he was suddenly fine again. Strange coincidence, huh?
Kachina	It was Mualani who introduced me to him! To be honest, I was a little scared of him at first, because his eyes... well, he's got a scary look. It was only later that I found out that he secretly taught my bullies a lesson. But when I tried to give him a gift to thank him, he refused to take it. He said something along the lines of having already received enough compensation...
Mavuika	In addition to the Turnfire, Malipo has another meaning, “cost” or “price.” It may seem less overtly heroic compared to the other Ancient Names, but in truth, Malipo teaches us to be calm and analytical-to ask the questions people may not want to hear. Without people who possess these qualities, it's just too easy for the rest of us to act on impulse and emotion, and make decisions we'll come to regret.
Mualani	Ajaw will say more in a day than Kinich in a whole year. It can't be easy having to deal with all of Ajaw's antics, but somehow Kinich always manages to do his own thing. Now that I think about it, the only time they seem equally uninterested is when I talk about horoscopes...
Ororon	Ajaw is an interesting case. He's old, but also young... And Kinich is just the opposite - young, but also old. You know what I mean, right?
Varesa	I haven't entered the Pilgrimage that many times, but once, I came up against Kinich during the group stage. That guy is so nimble... He was just dodging all of my moves until I completely exhausted myself, then he knocked me out cold with one hit... By the time I realized that maybe I should get my teammates to help me pin him down... he and the Sacred Flame were long gone.
Xilonen	Kinich is nice, but that Ajaw is really hard to be around. Speaking of, where did Ajaw even come from? If he originated from some kind of device, then there is actually a chance that I could make him shut up forever. Oh, maybe I should find some time to go over and discuss this with Kinich...

By the time they wake up in their sick beds, they have nothing further to say, because they've forgotten whatever it was they were fighting about.
Citlali	About Citlali As you can probably guess, I've taken jobs from her before. I helped her purchase a heavy stack of paper-based reading material from an Inazuman merchant. Not to pry into my clients' private affairs, but... don't the Masters of the Night-Wind use woven fabric instead of paper?
Iansan	About Iansan Kinich: I've taken jobs from her before. More of a long-term collaboration, really... She makes fitness meals for her personal-training students, with everything measured out to the exact calorie. To keep this up, she needs a steady supply of fruits that meet her strict quality. standards and size requirements. A single bruise or bug bite, and she'll reject the entire batch. Most people find this impossible to work with, but I've got a good eye for these things... plus a reliable means of disposal for fruits that don't make the grade. Ajaw: Wait, what? ... THAT'S what you make my juice from!?
Ifa	About Ifa Kinich: I've enlisted his services before. It was when Ajaw said he was "ill"... Whatever it was, he was ranting and crying incessantly. So, I figured it only made sense to take him to the best sauro-vet I could find. And he really is a pro. Ajaw wasn't inside for long, but when Ifa brought him out, he was cured. Ajaw: Gah... What do you know about medicine! He's not even a real doctor, he's a quack! A charlatan! ...You weren't even there, you don't know what he said! Ugh.
Kachina	About Kachina I saw a job posting about her once. Some lowlifes from her tribe got jealous that she'd received an ancient name, and basically tried to order a hit on her Saurian companion... They paid the price, I made sure of that.
Mavuika	About Mavuika For most of my life, I've been getting others to pay a price. Then, the Pyro Archon used the Ode of Resurrection to bring me back from the Night Kingdom, and suddenly I was the one paying the price... Only then did I finally understand it from both sides. To the stronger party, the "price" is a bargaining chip, and to the weaker party, it's a sign of what's at stake. What matters is whether you have the courage to make the gamble.
Mualani	About Mualani I've taken jobs from her before. She offered to pay me to act as a "battle advisor," and the Mora was good, so I accepted. After working with her a few times, though, I noticed she's not exactly a pushover. When I pressed her about it, she eventually admitted that "battle advisor" was just code for mentoring Kachina in wilderness survival... So a "battle against nature," then. Hmm, I'd probably just call that "life." Anyway, that business is concluded, and I now have two new acquaintances.
Xilonen	About Xilonen I saw a strange job posting once while passing by the Children of Echoes' territory. The requester was looking for a hardy plant that wouldn't take much maintenance, so I brought over some Saurian claw succulent seeds, along with a pot and some fertilizer. It grows well all over Natlan, even in the most barren areas. But when I went to collect my payment, I saw that not a single seedling had sprouted from the pot. I paid the price for overestimating Xilonen's gardening skills. This was one of the few failed jobs on my record.
