Tsumi Story and Lore

The Vassal: Half-Human, Half-Snake

Tsumi was born in Enkanomiya as one of the Vassals of Watatsumi, half-human and half-snake hybrids that were believed to be the familiars of the Watatsumi Omikami.

As time goes by, the Vassals of Watatsumi managed to look identical to humans, the difference is that they have very distinguishable vertical pupils.

Raised by Bathysmal Vishaps

When Tsumi was an infant, she was kidnapped by Bathysmal Vishaps: creatures that reside in Enkanomiya. The Bathysmal Vishaps took care of the young Tsumi and taught her the human language through books and scrolls.

Worked with The Thing Calling Himself ''Enjou''

Tsumi, now an adult, has encountered the Pyro Abyss Lector, also known as Enjou. The Bathysmal Vishaps and Enjou have formed an alliance to bring the darkness surrounding Enkanomiya to rescue the other Vishaps trapped in Dainichi Mikoshi.

A Broken Alliance

In return, the Bathysmal Vishaps allowed Enjou to create a safe passage for the Abyss Order around Enkanomiya by rebuilding the Three Towers of Void and surrounding Enkanomiya with the darkness of the Void Abyss.

Little did the Bathysmal Vishaps know (and presumably Enjou) that the darkness of the Void Abyss was actually harmful to the elemental beings in Enkanomiya, making the Vishaps believe that Enjou betrayed them.

Three Realms Gateway Offering

Kokomi was hosting the Watatsumi Goryou Matsuri, a ceremony that reverses the Holy Soil phenomenon in Watatsumi Island to secure the island's agriculture. One day during the ritual, it somehow didn't reverse the Holy Soil phenomenon, which is due to the darkness surrounding Enkanomiya.

Kokomi sent her soldiers to investigate, but they were wounded because of the darkness. Luckily for the soldiers, Tsumi (who resided in Enkanomiya) managed to bring them to a makeshift camp to recuperate and eventually help them to evacuate out of Enkanomiya.

Three Realms Gateway Offering: The Eve

Kokomi sent the Traveler to Enkanomiya to investigate the darkness surrounding Enkanomiya. When they arrived at the makeshift camp, they met a girl named Tsumi, who was the one tending to the injured soldiers.

Tsumi gave the Bokuso Box to the Traveler to help them dispel the darkness. The Traveler was tasked to climb to the top of the Towers of the Void and activate the Light Realm Chisels to nullify the darkness.

Thanks to the Traveler, the darkness in Enkanomiya was vanished and Tsumi managed to evacuate most of the soldiers. Tsumi tasks the Traveler to find Enjou and defeat him.

Enjou reveals that Tsumi's plan is to create a darkness that will protect the Vishaps by suppressing the power of the Bloodbranch Coral: the source of Watatsumi Island's life force. The Traveler eventually rescued the Vishaps from the Dainichi Mikoshi and convinced Tsumi to not go through with her plan.
