CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG Guide

Genshin Impact - CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG Guide

CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are character stats that determine damage output in Genshin Impact. Read on to learn more about what CRIT is, how to raise CRIT Stats using weapons, artifacts, and characters, and the ideal CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG ratio.

CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG Basic Information

What is CRIT?

More Damage Dealt per Hit

CRIT (or Critical Hit) is an attack that deals more damage than usual. When damage numbers are scaled larger, it indicates that you managed to deal a CRIT Hit.

CRIT Rate VS CRIT DMG

Genshin Impact - CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG Attributes

CRIT Rate

CRIT Rate measures how often you can deal CRIT Hits. Higher percentages means a higher chance of your attacks becoming critical hits.

For Bow characters, all Charged Attacks that hit an enemy's weak spot will be a guaranteed CRIT Hit!

Every character has a base CRIT Rate of at least 5%.

CRIT DMG

CRIT DMG measures how much bonus DMG you deal when you get a CRIT Hit. Higher percentages means more bonus DMG output.

Every character has a base CRIT DMG of at least 50%.

CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG Ratio

Recommended 1:2 CRIT Ratio

CRIT Ratio
CRIT Rate = At least 50% CRIT DMG = CRIT Rate x 2

Our recommended ratio of CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG is 1:2, with CRIT DMG being double of the CRIT Rate. For example, if your CRIT Rate is 60%, your CRIT DMG should be at least 120%.

Try to aim for at least 50% CRIT Rate when building characters, so everyone has a decent chance to deal CRIT hits!

Best Characters to Use CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG

Use on DPS and Sub-DPS Characters

Genshin - AoE Burst Damage
The characters that benefit the most from CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG will be your main damage dealers. They will need these stats to deal more damage per hit.

Best Team Comps

Balance CRIT and ATK

Genshin - Searing Onslaught Damage
The higher your ATK, the better effect your CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG can have, so make sure you are also building this important stat!

Don't Forget ATK

CRIT increases the damage multiplier on the initial damage you deal to enemies. This means raising only CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG won't deal high damage if you don't increase your character's ATK stat.

A healthy build is to find a middle ground between raising CRIT Rate, Crit DMG and ATK, as well as keep in mind the stat that your character's talent scales off of.

How to Raise CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG

Equip CRIT Artifacts

Genshin Impact - CRIT Artifacts
You can increase your CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG by equipping artifacts with CRIT Main and Sub stats.

Only Circlets can get CRIT stats as their Main artifact stat, so you should build your artifacts based on whatever your Circlet artifact has.

If your Circlet artifact has CRIT Rate, aim for CRIT DMG Sub-stats on your other artifacts. If it has CRIT DMG, you need CRIT Rate Sub-stats.
