After beginning The Dirge of Bilqis, Babel is one of the few characters that will be present throughout the quest.
She is a the leader of the Tanit Tribe and values loyalty among her tribe, punishing traitors as she deems fit. She is hospitable towards the Traveler, and makes them feel at ease during their stay in the desert.
Jeht is treated fondly by Babel, being called as The Matriarch's Shadow'' for this very reason. She grants Jeht and the Traveler permission to excavate the surrounding ruins, which has been considered as taboo.
Jeht reminds Babel of the daughter she lost to the sands, noting their likeness if her daughter was still alive,
The Dirge of Bilqis World Quest Chain Guide
The Tanit Tribe engages in multilateral trades to sustain their living and prosper. As the leader, Babel foresees these affairs.
Jebrael, Jeht's father, was once part of this tribe and his leaving had been a regret for Babel.
In the past, they once engaged with the people from Snezhnaya in active trade. However, Babel realizes that these people had brought forth more danger to their tribe rather than benefits and had banned them from their land.
Those who had turned to seek out these people are turned to traitors and punished by her.
As a way to help her people, she enlists the help of Liloupar, whom the Traveler and Jeht found while exploring the ruins. Though they seem hostile to one another, the two come forth to an understanding that allows them to move past their issues.
Babel hinted her dislike for the snowy region upon meeting her. She rejects being addressed with the formality, ''My Lady,'' as it is ''the language of the snowlands.'' There are Fatui outposts around the Tanit Camp, despite being banned, and conniving with Fatui equates to being a traitor of the tribe.
