List of Contents
Guizhong, also known as Haagentus, was the late God of Dust that ruled the Guili Assembly alongside Morax and Marchosius. She was a visionary and a talented mechanical artist. She died fighting in a war of gods, presumably the Archon War.

Guizhong was first mentioned for her infamous military turret of her namesake, the Guizhong Ballista during Archon Quest Chapter 1: Act 2,
Sometime before Liyue became the nation it is now, Guizhong approached Zhongli in a field full of Glaze Lilies. She gave the Memory of Dust puzzle as a symbol of their pledge to protect their people.
She remarked about mixing his "brawn" with her "brains" to create a great city.
This is the mark of our pledge, and it is also my challenge to you.
All my wisdom is hidden within this stone dumbbell.
He remembers meeting the young woman with the billowing sleeves, remembers the way she acted solemn, yet seemed joyful when she presented him this token.
What a silly notion. There was no formal contract between them. They were merely two people walking the same path for their own reasons...
But he remembers the scene of their first meeting anyway, when the Glaze Lilies were still in abundant bloom.
He also remembers those words she spoke at the end — again, amid the Glaze Lilies.
Those little people are as small and fragile as dust.
Because they are so small, they know not when they will lose their lives to disaster or strife, and so they are afraid.
Because they are afraid, they try so hard to become more intelligent. This I understand.
So I thought that since there is such a gulf between us in strength, I should use technique and wisdom instead.
With your brawn and my brains, this city would surely become a great one.
Her final smile was a lonely one, even as her form dissolved into the finest dust.
It seems that our journey together has come to an end. As for that stone dumbbell, forget about it, would you?
This is the mark of our pledge, and it is also my challenge to you.
All my wisdom is hidden within this stone dumbbell.
If you can unlock it—
Many years passed, and he was never able to unlock that dumbbell, nor would he ever learn what might have followed that sentence.
Over the years, the wild Glaze Lilies, too, dwindled till at last, they were no more.

Loosely translating to "The Plains of the Returning and Departing," the Northern Mt. Tianheng (which would become Guili Plains), is the place where the God of Dust established that city.
Initially, refugees from an unknown land, Guizhong successfully led her people to safety and prosperity in Guili Plains. This, alongside her Four Commandments inscribed on the Stone Tablets deciphered by Soraya, helped the establishment of the Guili Assembly.
Teach with wisdom, be bound by virtue, fortify the bones, unite in ambition—the convergence of these four shall be known as the 'Guili Assembly.'
Treasure Lost, Treasure Found World Quest
The Guili Assembly was then ruled by Guizhong with Morax and the God of Stove, Marchosius, which was revealed during the Moonlight Merriment quests. The name "Guili" is a mix of Guizhong and Morax's names at the time.
According to Cloud Retainer from the Lantern Rite 2023 quest, A Single Harmony for an Irreplaceable Soul, Guizhong was extroverted and was so fond of gatherings that she frequently invited her friends to the assembly.
They would eat, drink and enjoy each other's company until late at night. Streetward Rambler (Madame Ping) would often stay late and gaze at the sea of Glaze Lilies with Guizhong before going home.
A Single Harmony for an Irreplaceable Soul
Guizhong was greatly talented in mechanical arts. She would often create masterpieces that could rival what Cloud Retainer could make. They would hold contests, under the guise of social gatherings. Zhongli would act as the judge to see which one was the greater inventor.
According to Cloud Retainer, Guizhong would often win those competitions and beat her.
During the A Single Harmony for an Irreplaceable Soul Event Quest, the blueprint of the Guizhong Ballista was shown during the contest scene. At the time, Morax chose this blueprint and Guizhong won the contest!
The Guizhong Ballista was first named Obscuro Vulpes Mechanism.
Guizhong also created the Cleansing Bell, which was used during the Rite of Parting in the Liyue Archon Quests. You had to enter Madame Ping's Adeptus Abode to get it. This bell was able to mechanically produce melodies.
Guizhong and Streetward Rambler (now known as Madame Ping) shared a deep friendship. Before they became close, they were rivals who argued about their beliefs on music.
Their rivalry started with Guizhong's creation of the bell. She created it because she wanted to produce good melodies. Even though it pales in comparison to human composers.
The mechanically produced melodies attracted Streetward Rambler's ire. She believed that music is an expression of the soul and that nothing can reproduce it.
The arguments grew longer until Cloud Retainer asked Zhongli to stop it. He confiscated the bell and designated it for ceremonial use only.
After that incident, Guizhong and Madame Ping grew close. Cloud Retainer remarked about seeing them enjoy each other's company in the mountains.
After that, war broke out between the gods, and the Guili Assembly got caught in it. She was overpowered and eventually died in battle. Madame Ping and Cloud Retainer were too late when they arrived at the scene.
According to the Memory of Dust, she perished in a field of Glaze Lilies. She was telling Zhongli about what could be inside the Memory of Dust, but she passed before she could elaborate on what were the contents.
After Guizhong's death, Zhongli and Marchosius led their people to establish the nation of Liyue.
Cloud Retainer added the finishing touches to the Guizhong Ballista in honor of her memory. It was later situated in Mt. Tianheng.
Madame Ping, who was once extroverted like Guizhong, became withdrawn. She would barely create music and later create a song dedicated to Guizhong. The song was played once.
She would go on to rarely play her zither, having lost a friend who would understand her tunes.
She later requested to be the safekeeper of the Cleansing Bell and Zhongli granted that request. She keeps it inside her Adeptus Abode.
