Mamere is the only Melusine who can hear and communicate with someone named “Father”, who eventually turned out to be Elynas, the progenitor of all Melusines.
It was implied that Melusines in the past can openly communicate with Elynas, but the talent eventually declined, singling Mamere out among her peers. And because of her timid nature, Mamere only found out late that she's the only one who can hear “Father”.
Aside from “Father”, Mamere's only friend is the Meka, Seymour. Because of being overall shy and aloof, Mamere has grown extremely fond of her Meka friend. During the A Gradient of Dreams and Ochre, Mamere asked “Father”'s help to repair the broken Seymour.
