Sea Gazer was a free-spirited and easy-going Adeptus who once served to protect the people of Liyue. He possesses exceptional exploration skills and was able to find many treasures that he placed in his abode.

Sea Gazer Story and Lore

The Free-Spirited Adeptus

Sea Gazer was an easy-going adeptus. He was described as "easy-going," "cheerful," "loyal," mild-mannered," and "open-minded" according to Xingqiu and Ningguang.

He has a mellow personality by default, but he would often get excited when the conversation was about the treasure he collected during his travels!

Paimon mentions that the form he chose looked like a "goose" when he was featured in the Lantern Rite Mingxiao Lantern.

Collects Treasures and Puts them in his Abode

It seems Sea Gazer loved to travel and explore many places. He would collect them and place them in his abode, which is located in Lisha. He would show off his latest discoveries when he gathered with Guizhong and the rest of their friends!

Friends with Cloud Retainer and Guizhong

During the "A Single Harmony for an Irreplaceable Soul" Event Quest, Cloud Retainer told the story about the time when Guizhong would invite them to the Guili Assembly.

As always, Sea Gazer would start showing off his treasures and Cloud Retainer would show off her latest creations. They would end up arguing and Guizhong would either join in or say something odd to stop them.

Eventually, Marchosius (also known as the God of Stove or Guoba) would come with his food and that would stop any debates on the table.

Owned the Fantastic Compass

Sea Gazer was a loyal friend, he gave his thaumaturge friend the Fantastic Compass to help him in battle. This was revealed in the description of the Event Cutscene Video: "Moments of Life or Death" for the Perilous Trail Interlude Chapter.

He was quoted saying that once it was returned to the mountains, it would be "a testament" of their friendship.

Cause of Death Unknown

Sea Gazer died before the game's events, and what caused it is unknown. From what is known so far, it seems he was alive during the time of Guizhong. Whether he lived after the Archon War or not, has yet to be revealed.

During the second part of the Interlude Chapter Act 1 - The Crane Returns on the Wind, Seagaze Sunset, Ningguang held a contest on who could get Sunset Vermillions. After consulting Xingqiu, he points you toward Sea Gazer's Abode!

Exquisite Night Chimes Event Quests

In the Lantern Rite 2023 Event, The Exquisite Night Chimes, Sea Gazer is the one featured in that year's Mingxiao Lantern! He was also mentioned by Cloud Retainer as she was telling the story of Guizhong.

Perilous Trail Interlude Chapter Cutscene

Sea Gazer was not mentioned during the Perilous Trail Interlude Chapter, but when the Event Cutscene was posted, it was revealed there that he owned the fantastic compass! The Fantastic Compass was heavily featured during the quest.
