How to Get to the Tenebrous Papilla
Entrance to the Cave is at the Bottom of a Cliff
The entrance to the Tenebrous Papilla's lair is at the bottom of cliff just southeast of the Flower Feather Clan's settlement. Simply drop down to the very bottom to happen upon a large opening on the cliff's face.
Follow the trail ahead to reach the Tenebrous Papilla's location.

East of the Flower Fetaher Clan's Settlement
The Tenebrous Papilla is located in a subterranean cave east of the Flower Feather Clan's settlement in Natlan.
There will be two waypoints accessible once you're there—one by the entrance and the other right next to the boss.
How to Beat Tenebrous Papilla
Destroy Its Shield With Nigthsoul or Elemental Attacks
While fighting the Tenebrous Papilla, it will enter a charging state and will cast a Void Ward on itself. The Void Ward acts as a shield for the Tenebrous Papilla, similar to how you beat Tenebrous Mimifloras.
The shield of the Tenebrous Papilla can be broken easily either by using Nightsoul-aligned attacks, which are from Natlan Characters, or other Elemental Reactions, like Hyperbloom or Burning.

Take Note of the Bosses it Mimics
Each battle with the Tenebrous Papilla is a battle against 3 other World Bosses. However, in each battle, it can only mimic a maximum of 3, and they will all be the same lineup.
While it will not necessarily mimic the tactic of a World Boss' weakness such as the Yumkasaur King's devouring of Flamegranates, the Tenebrous Papilla is not resistant to anything. Feel free to go all out on the DMG!

When the Tenebrous Papilla reaches 50% HP below, it will conjure a Void Ward that will negate a lot of your DMG. Using Nightsoul-aligned attacks will circumvent this ward nicely.
Kinich and Mualani will work wonders in dealing Nightsoul-aligned DMG while keeping your DMG output as high as it can be. Having Xilonen in the party will also dramatically increase your DMG for a much swifter battle.

Another approach to to defeating the Tenebrous Papilla is through the Hyperbloom reaction, which still remains one of the game's most powerful elemental reactions.
A good DPS such as the Raiden Shogun and Alhaitham supported by Nahida's off-field DMG will make a huge difference in your DMG output.

For an F2P Team, one can opt for a Hyperbloom Team or a Geo-centered team with Kachina in the party for Nightsoul-aligned DMG.
Both parties will still be able to deal substantial DMG, with the latter having the ability to break through the Tenebrous Papilla's Void Ward.

The Tenebrous Papilla does not have any weaknesses or resistances but will instead have mimic the attacks of other World Bosses in rapid succession. Hence, Travelers may use whichever character suits their playstyle best.
However, it is worth noting that the Tenebrous Papilla has the capability to conjure a Void Ward, which can be dispelled much faster with Nightsoul-aligned DMG. Bring along characters who can do just that.

Tenebrous Papilla Attack Patterns
Void Ward
The Tenebrous Papilla deploys a Void Ward, similar to the Tenebrous Mimiflora, while it charges and prepares to unleash a powerful attack. If the ward remains unbroken before this attack, it will kill your active character instantly.
The Void Ward is like a shield and can be broken instantly using Nigthsoul-aligned Elemental attacks. Other elemental attacks can also help break the Void Ward.
