Chapter 5: Act 2 Past and Future |
To unlock Mualani's Story Quest you just need to reach Adventure Rank 40 and complete the previous two acts of the People of the Springs Tribe Chronicles along with Act 2 of Natlan's Archon Quest, Black Stone Under a White Stone.
Unlike older character Story Quests, you do not need a Story Key to unlock Mualani's Story Quest. Tribe Chronicles can be unlocked as soon as you complete the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame Archon Quest.

| 1 |  After being told that you need someone trustworthy be your guide to the mysterious island, head to Mualani's family shop. |
| 2 |  You will then notice that everyone seems to be running to Koolau, the number one guide for the People of the Springs. After talking to him, Koolau suggests the Sumeru researchers take Mualani as their guide instead of him. |
| 3 |  After the argument with Koolau, Mualani decides to accept being your and the researcher's guide. |
| 4 |  Follow the quest markers to grab a tent from the fishing shop, a record player from the instrument shop, and a record from the record shop. |
| 5 |  Mualani will then take you to her teacher who gives her the map and a special talisman. |
| 6 |  Wait until morning the next day (08:00 - 12:00) to meet up with Mualani and the Researchers. You can easily do this by changing the time from the main menu. |

| 1 |  After passing time, head to the location marked on your map and meet up with your group. Mualani will teach you a prayer done for protection and good luck. |
| 2 |  After praying to Mualani's ancestors, head to the first location where you will find a herd of Koholasaurs. You cannot sneak past them for now so you're forced to head back. |
| 3 |  After heading back, Mualani gets the idea to smother yourself with a plant's extract to make yourself invisible to the Koholasaurs' keen sense of smell. |
| 4 |  Head back to the Koholasaurs and you can now sneak past them. Just follow Mualani's lead and you will find yourself near a group of them. Hide behind the rock for now while Mualani distracts them. |
| 5 |  After distracting the Koholasaurs, you need to walk past a few that are sleeping. Again, keep following Mualani and you should make it through. |
| 6 |  After sneaking past the Koholasaurs, you and Mualani find a clue in the moss. Mualani will copy it down and you will reconvene with your group with the new clue. |
| 7 |  Using the clues and the map, your next location is near Jadeskirt Knoll. |

| 1 |  After getting to the location, Viramdra will say that the way forward is via a Spiritway controlled by a Phlogiston Node. There's one nearby that you can activate. |
| 2 |  After activating the Phlogiston Node, head south to the other two nodes. You can swim there or if you unlocked the waypoint, just teleport. |
| 3 |  After getting to the island, follow the markers on the map and you can activate the one with the smaller area first. There are some Hillichurls nearby, so take care of them first. |
| 4 |  For the one with the bigger area, head up and you should see some breakable rocks. |
| 5 |  Break the rocks and a switch will be under it. Hit the switch and walk on the generated platform to activate the last Node. |
| 6 |  After activating the nodes, you and Mualani team up together to ride the Spiritway. Mualani will tell you when she can change tracks so make sure you listen. If you see a new track adjacent to you, always swap to it. |
| 7 |  While Mualani is surfing, you will be asked to activate the nodes. Just touch with the node in front of you so you can get back to surfing. |
| 8 |  After riding the Spiritway, the Nodes will disable and a bunch of whirlpools will appear. Mualani will say that the way to thge mysterious Island is under the big whirlpool. |
| 9 |  Report back to the researchers and Viramdra does not trust you enough to go inside a whirlpool. Mualani then decides to try it out first to prove that it's safe. |
| 10 |  Before you and Mualani could get to the big whirlpool, Viramdra seems to have been swept away by the water. Surf on top of the water to get to Viramdra before he drowns. |
| 11 |  After saving Viramdra, the whirlpools would have subsided. You decide to just camp out for now until the nodes reactivate. |

| 1 |  After waking up, it seems Mualani and the researchers managed to reactivate the whirlpools. Once you're ready, head towards the big whirlpool. |
| 2 |  Once you come to, follow the path onwards to a pitfall. Head down and you will get to a new area with lava. |
| 3 |  Investigate the area while defeating any enemy and opening any chest you come across. |
| 4 |  The group will then see a golden light up ahead, so keep moving onwards and keep following the quest marker. |
| 5 |  After a bit of exploring interact with the area as marked. Viramdra will then explain that the golden light comes from the Vulcanite ore. |
| 6 |  While Mualani tells everyone to head back, Viramdra ignores her warning and bolts onward as the lava levels rise. Defeat the enemies that appear and chase after Viramdra. |
| 7 |  Chase after Viramdra with Mualani with her surfboard, making sure to evade the falling rocks. Equip your NRE if you have it so you can heal. |
| 8 |  After pulling the reluctant Viramdra back, everyone decides to head out of the dungeon but not until Karya slaps some sense into Viramdra. |
| 9 |  After getting back to the surface, you return to the statue where you started where a cutscene about the first person who reached the mysterious island will play. |
| 10 |  Once you learn of the truth behind th eisaland, the gorup decides to head back to Nuu to return the talisman. It is then revealed that Koolau never really made it to the island. |
| 11 |  Once all of that is over, Mualani asks the Traveller to take a photo with her to commemorate. |
