Tepetlisaur is the main companion for the people of the "Children of Echoes" tribe. You can indwell this Saurian to move rapidly underground or on cliffsides, or use Molten Fissures to get around.
Koholasaurs help the "People of the Springs" tribe navigate through waters and even the lava-filled Liquid Phlogiston areas.
This type can get you through water or Liquid Phlogiston areas in Natlan. They can use Water Rings to jump at a high distance, and use Spiritways to travel.
Yumkasaurs that you will commonly find around the "Scions of the Canopy" tribe excels in foraging fruits with their Flamegranate Pectin.
You can indwell them to dart around using Four-Leaf Sigils, interact with certain puzzles, or grab Flamegranates and Phlogiston Barrels to use for attacks.
Iktomisaurus are Saurians that you will encounter mostly around the tribal vicinity of the Masters of the Night-Wind. They excel at investigating various markings in the surroundings and accessing hidden areas with their enhanced Elemental Sight.
Indwelling Iktomisauri also gives you the ability to jump high and glide which enables access to some hard-to-reach areas. In addition, they can also conjure markings into something tangible in the world.
Qucusaurus are bird-like Saurians that are found around the territory of the Flower-Feather Clan. Their main use is flight, making it possible to fly great distances across the map as long as your Phlogiston reserves allow it.
Qucusauri can also use special tunnels that let them traverse environmental features and have the ability to divebomb straight to the ground, dealing AoE Pyro damage at the point of impact.
Completing the Lost in the Woods quest also gives you the Reaffirmed Accord of Appellation, which enables you to rename 'Little One' if you have changed your mind. Like Wanderer's renaming, you can choose any names as long as it does not violate the rules.
Note that the game specifies that you can only name your Saurian up to a certain limit.
How to Get Reaffirmed Accord of Appellation
Saurian Indwelling is an exclusive mechanic in Natlan that allows the Traveler to "possess" Saurians and use their abilities to explore and interact with the environment. This ability becomes available when a Saurian is nearby.
The Traveler can also "transform" into a Saurian by interacting with Saurian Spiritsconces—sigils found all over the Natlan region that symbolize a Saurian type.
These sigils are common around time challenges involving terrains that can be utilized by a specific Saurian ability.
Saurians need Phlogiston to use their unique abilities. This is similar to a character's stamina bar in that the ability can be used if there's Phlogiston available.
To transform back to your character while in the Saurian Form, all you have to do is hold down the button that symbolizes a character gliding.

Saurians are a key mechanic in exploring Natlan. When "indwelt" into a Saurian type, the Traveler can utilize their unique abilities to better navigate through terrain of Natlan through swimming, climbing, and zipping.
Saurians are a race that co-exist with Natlan's people and serve as both their own race and companions to Natlanians, with some Natlanian warriors even fashioning their outfits to match their Saurian companions.
