Strengths | |||
---|---|---|---|
• Enables the Plunge Attack playstyle for any character. She also gives big damage buffs for such playstyles while also having access to Viridescent Venerer. • Healing is for all characters in your party, which makes her a good pair with Furina. • ATK scaling benefits everything in her kit, including her healing, buffs, and damage. This also allows her to focus on as much Energy Recharge as she can get so she can use her Burst off-cooldown. • Gives CRIT Rate to all party members if enemies are hit by her Elemental Skill • Great exploration ability to access high areas. |
|||
Weaknesses | |||
• High Elemental Burst cost, which requires her to have a lot of Energy Recharge. • Her Elemental Skill can be interrupted by stray heavy attacks. |

As the scaling of her healing and plunging buffs are based on her total ATK, Xianyun's best build are weapons that have an abundance of such stat like Oathsworn Eye. Try to have as much ATK and Energy Recharge as possible to fund her Elemental Burst!
Your artifacts depend on whether or not your party can benefit from Viridescent Venerer's res shred. Use Song of Days Past if your main damage dealer is a non-reactive DPS like Xiao. Otherwise, use Viridescent Venerer if your DPS can react with Anemo's swirls like Gaming or Diluc.

This full healer build is for players who don't necessarily have Plunging characters and just wishes to play her as a generalist healer support. Her build will be similar but her circlet should use Healing Bonus instead for more healing.
She can also use Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers for the ATK buffs for her Main DPS. Otherwise, use ATK or Energy Recharge weapons if you don't have enough artifacts that can satisfy her energy cost requirements.

For players who want to strengthen plunging and jump buffs for herself, this Xianyun Main DPS build focuses on her personal DPS with CRIT, especially with her C6. Desert Pavilion Chronicle would be her best-in-slot to buff her Plunging Attacks.

We recommend leveling up Xianyun's Elemental Burst first, as that talent is where most of her team utility comes from. Afterwards, level up her Elemental Skill to increase her own personal damage.
For DPS builds, if you have C6, then her Elemental Skill is your utmost priority. Otherwise, you will have to level up every talents to further increase her own personal DPS.
Crane's Echoing Call is Xianyun's expected best weapon as per the usual pattern for most 5-star releases. Alternatively, you may also equip her with any weapons that give ATK like Skyward Atlas or Oathsworn Eye (which also gives Energy Recharge).

Based on your main damage dealer's element and reaction playstyle, Song of Days Past or Viridescent Venerer are Xianyun's best artifacts to equip as a Plunging Support.
As mentioned earlier, if your Main DPS is any character who can react with swirl (Pyro, Cryo, Electro, Hydro users), equip Viridescent Venerer for the RES shred debuff. Otherwise, use Song of Days Past instead.
If you haven't farmed for Song of Days Past for Xiao-teams, Nobless Oblige is a good alternative generalist option.
Artifact | Artifact Bonuses | |
---|---|---|
1st | Viridescent Venerer |
2-PC: Anemo DMG Bonus +15% 4-PC: Increases Swirl DMG by 60%. Decreases opponent's Elemental RES to the element infused in the Swirl by 40% for 10s. |
2nd | Song of Days Past |
2-PC: Healing Bonus +15% 4-PC: When the equipping character heals a party member, the Yearning effect will be created for 6s, which records the total amount of healing provided (including overflow healing). When the duration expires, the Yearning effect will be transformed into the Waves of Days Past effect: When your active party member hits an opponent with a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst, the DMG dealt will be increased by 8% of the total healing amount recorded by the Yearning effect. The Waves of Days Past effect is removed after it has taken effect 5 times or after 10s. A single instance of the Yearning effect can record up to 15,000 healing, and only a single instance can exist at once, but it can record the healing from multiple equipping characters. Equipping characters on standby can still trigger this effect. |
3rd | Noblesse Oblige |
2-PC: Elemental Burst DMG +20%. 4-PC: Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack. |

Xianyun | Hu Tao | Yelan | Furina |
Teams with characters who can benefit from Xianyun's plunging utility and healing in tandem with Furina's buffs are her best teams for Viridescent Venerer teams.
Vaporize is one such team comp. We recommend having a Main DPS that have high plunging attack scalings like Diluc, who also benefits from reactions with Hydro, are good to slot-in.
Gaming, like Xiao, also plays around plunging attacks, and it is expected that they will pair well together. You may also play around Melt by having off-field applicators like Rosaria and Layla.

Xianyun | Xiao | Faruzan | Furina |
Xiao has been the only character (before Gaming's release in 4.4) whose kit is designed around using Plunging Attacks. With Xianyun, his damage gets a big boost thanks to her. This team uses Song of Days Past for Xianyun.
Xianyun and Xiao also synergize well with Furina, as the former can replenish the party's HP, and the latter can decrease his own by himself. Having Faruzan in this team, especially at C6, maximizes the damage you can possibly have for him!

All Claymore characters tend to have high Plunging Attack modifiers than most weapon types, so as long as they can infuse themselves with their own element, they are all viable as your Main DPS enabled by Xianyun.
Main DPS | Sub-DPS | Support/ Sub-DPS |

---|---|---|---|
Xianyun | Furina | Faruzan | Bennett |
Xianyun as a Main DPS will act as a Hypercarry Driver, so you will need one Anemo Support, and other buffers like Furina and Bennett. You can also mix in other Sub-DPS like Fischl or Xiangling if you want to play as a Swirl driver, although you will want Elemental Mastery.
Support | Main DPS | Sub-DPS | Support/ Sub-DPS |
---|---|---|---|
Xianyun | Gaming | Xingqiu | Bennett |
Most of Xianyun's best team comps consist with Furina in mind. If you don't have her, you may use the usual characters who can apply elements or buff your party members like Xingqiu, Bennett, Sucrose, or Xiangling.
Gaming can be obtained for free in the 2024 Lantern Rite, so if you want to use him with Xianyun, using Vaporize is one of his best teams!

Aloof From the World After using a Skyladder from White Clouds at Dawn, Xianyun's ATK will be increased by 20% for 15s. Additionally, the effects of the Passive Talent "Consider, the Adeptus in Her Realm" will be enhanced: When the Starwicker created by Stars Gather at Dusk has Adeptal Assistance stacks, nearby active characters' Plunging Attack shockwave DMG will be increased by 400% of Xianyun's ATK. Within 16s after Xianyun has used Stars Gather at Dusk, White Clouds at Dawn will not enter CD. This effect will be canceled once she has used White Clouds at Dawn 8 times. |

C2 | ★★★ | • Doubles the Plunging Attack DMG buffs she gives during her Elemental Burst. |
C6 | ★★☆ | • Xianyun becomes a Main DPS character at C6, letting her use her Elemental Skill in succession for a total of 8 times. |
If you wish to invest on Plunging Teams, Xianyun's C2 effectively doubles the damage buffs she gives for them. This is highly recommended to further increase her already great damage buffs.

White Clouds at Dawn |
---|
Xianyun enters the Cloud Transmogrification state, in which she will not take Fall DMG, and uses Skyladder once. In this state, her Plunging Atack will be converted into Driftcloud Wave instead, which deals AoE Anemo DMG and ends the Cloud Transmogrification state. This DMG is considered Plunging Attack DMG. Each use of Skyladder while in this state increases the DMG and AoE of the next Driftcloud Wave used. Skyladder: Can be used while in mid-air. Xianyun leaps forward dealing Anemo DMG to targets along her path. During each Cloud Transmogrification state Xianyun enters, Skyladder may be used up to 3 times and only 1 instance of Skyladder DMG can be dealt to any one opponent. If Skyladder is not used again in a short period, the Cloud Transmogrification state will be canceled. If Xianyun does not use Driftcloud Wave while in this state, the next CD of White Clouds at Dawn will be decreased by 3s. |
Attribute | Effect (Lvl 1) |
---|---|
Skill DMG | 24.80% |
Driftcloud Wave DMG | 116%/148%/337.6% |
CD | 12s |
Casting Xianyun's Elemental Skill will enable her to perform 3 Skyladder leaps at maximum, which can all be performed either on the ground or in mid-air. This Talent is ideal for when you need to reach further heights in the overworld!
During each Skyladder leap, Xianyun can transform into her crane form and perform a Plunging Attack, dealing AoE Anemo DMG to opponents.
Stars Gather at Dusk |
---|
Brings forth a scared breeze that deals AoE Anemo DMG and heals all nearby characters based on Xinayun's ATK. It will summon the “Starwicker” mechanism.
Starwicker: • Continuously follows the active character and periodically heals all nearby party members based on Xianyun's ATK. • Starts with 8 stacks of Adeptal Assistance. While Adeptal Assistance is active, nearby active characters in the party will have their jump height increased. • When the active character completes a Plunging Attack, Starwicjer will consume 1 stack of Adeptal Assistance and deal AoE Anemo DMG. |
Attribute | Effect (Lvl 1) |
---|---|
Skill DMG | 108.00% |
Starwicker DMG | 39.20% |
Healing | 92.2% ATK+577 |
Continuous Healing | 43% ATK+269 |
Duration | 16s |
CD | 18s |
Energy Cost | 70 |
Xianyun's core kit for support is her Elemental Burst, where she unleashes her greatest invention to date: the Skywicker.
During Skywicker's duration on the field, it will follow and heal your active character, and enable active characters to increase their jump height, allowing them to make use of their Plunging Attacks!
After each Plunging Attack hits, Skywicker will also deal AoE Anemo DMG.
The jumping buff start with 8 stacks. Meaning, your active character can only normally do 8 plunges at max while the buff is active. Consuming all stacks will disable this effect.
Her passive talent allows her to increase your party member's Plunging Attack damage based on her ATK when her burst stacks are active.
This means that Xianyun's healing and buffing scales with ATK, so you should equip Xianyun with artifacts and weapons that has a high number of ATK.
Galefeather Pursuit |
---|
Each opponent hit by Driftcloud Waves from White Clouds at Dawn will grant all nearby party members 1 stack of Storm Pinion for 20s. Max 4 stacks. These will cause the characters' Plunging Attack CRIT Rate to increase by 4%/6%/8%/10% respectively. Each Storm Pinion created by hitting an opponent has an independent duration. |
Letting Xianyun use her Elemental Skill on multiple opponents can ensure that the DPS that she is supporting will have more CRIT Hits while performing Plunging Strikes.
Consider, the Adeptus in Her Realm |
---|
When the Starwicker created by Stars Gather at Dusk has Adeptal Assistance stacks, nearby active characters' Plunging Attack shockwave DMG will be increased by 180% of Xianyun's ATK. The maximum DMG increase that can be achieved this way is 9,000. Each Plunging Attack shockwave DMG instance can only apply this increased DMG effect to a single opponent. Each character can trigger this effect once every 0.4s. |
This passive allows normally Low ATK characters to be able to match the damage of other DPSes when doing Plunging Strikes with Xianyun's assistance.
It is a significant boost in damage, allowing characters like Gaming to slot more into Elemental Mastery versus ATK.
Crane Form |
---|
Increases gliding SPD for your own party members by 15%. |
The 15% gliding speed boost is helpful for getting from point A to point B, especially in mountainous areas like Liyue that have plenty of high points.

Gaming | Aunty Xianyun always has my back. Once, she saw that my Wushou head was looking a little worse for wear, and instantly said she could make, like, ten more for me, all twice my size. She was pretty insistent - it took me forever to talk her down to just remodeling the one I already had... And boy, is this an improvement! It looks way more impressive, it's much lighter, and the lion blanket constantly rustles in the air like there's an adeptal wind making it dance. I couldn't be happier with it! |
Ganyu | Cloud Retainer... Oh, I mean, Ms. Xianyun—we went shopping together a while back, but we ended up stopping at every single stall, and she wanted to inspect every item they sold before we could leave. When we finally remembered to get something to eat, it was already dark out. It really reminded me of the time I used to spend training in the mountains with her... Back then, time also seemed to pass in the blink of an eye... |
Ningguang | I plan to have Lady Xianyun over for a casual conversation over tea in a few days. I happen to have in my possession a number of mechanical devices, and I would be most interested to hear her insights on their design and use. It would also be a fine opportunity to hear about her experiences as an Adeptus adapting a new life in Liyue Harbor. All I require now is a suitable candidate to deliver the invitation to her on my behalf... Would you be interested, Traveler? |
Shenhe | The last time Master and Shuyu came to dine at Wanmin Restaurant, I noticed that Shuyu seemed to have adopted a number of Master's mannerisms. It gave me pause for thought... I grew up under Master's care, too. Is it possible that I have subconsciously picked up a thing or two from her as well...? |
Yaoyao | When I went to look for Master the other day, I found her chatting with a very elegant-looking lady. She said her name was "Xianyun," but her hijinks didn't fool me! I could tell it was Aunty Cloud Retainer right away! I mean, Master looked like she was really happy to see her, so how could it be a stranger? Evidently, she was an old friend! |
Zhongli | I hear many merchants of Liyue tell tales of a Ms. Xianyun. By most accounts, she appears proud and taciturn upon first glance, yet in conversation, people find her to be forthright and fair-minded, and they are pleased to make acquaintance. I am glad to hear this. But... I have also heard a great many accounts lauding her readiness to part with large sums of Mora... |
Character | In-Game Thoughts |
---|---|
Gaming |
About Gaming One is very fond of Gaming. He is good-hearted and entertaining in conversation, but never grandiloquent. We first met when one was resting by a lake, and he very kindly shared some of his provisions with me. Later, he commented that one seemed to be a wise elder, worthier of respect than even the adepti themselves... Hehe, this wise elder will be sure to look out for him after that. |
Ganyu |
About Ganyu One once asked Ganyu what she typically works on during her overtime hours. Her response was filled with hideous-sounding words, such as "meeting minutes," "summaries," "annual reports," "financial projections"... Hmph, were she not of qilin blood, and had one not taught to her the secrets of cultivating health, this avalanche of bureaucratic writ would have surely overwhelmed her... When you see her next, would you check that she's been drinking her Qingxin Infusion of Clear Sight on a daily basis? |
Hu Tao |
About Hu Tao That young lady says the most bizarre-sounding things, yet she appears to be rather highly regarded by the staff of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, even Rex Lapis himself saw fit to serve under her in some sort of "consultancy" capacity... Allegedly, she is similarly peculiar when it comes to her taste in food. One must admit, one finds eccentrics like her rather intriguing. |
Keqing |
About Keqing Keqing is a thoughtful child. She visits me on behalf of the Qixing every festival without fail, and always brings a gift. With such a capable and considerate colleague by her side, perhaps one needn't worry too much about Ganyu... |
Ningguang |
About Ningguang The Tianquan conducts her business with great adroitness, and is meticulous in her speech. Hmph, one must admit that Liyue is thriving under the governance of the Qixing. One has been observing her closely in the hope of discovering her secret... Ahem, that was for your ears only — please do not relay it to her. |
Shenhe |
About Shenhe Shenhe told me that once, when she was delivering an order for Wanmin Restaurant, she ran across the rooftops to save time. Her customer was terrified when she jumped down onto their doorstep, and was about to call for the Millelith... Fortunately, Shenhe disappeared as quickly as she arrived, leaving the food delivery behind and making haste before the customer had time to react. It seems she is growing more proficient at handling crises all the time — one could not be more pleased. |
Xiangling |
About Xiangling One happened to mention the Supreme Cuisine Machine in conversation with Xiangling once, but one was rather taken aback when she responded by saying that a dish is inauthentic unless it is prepared by hand... Hmph, are one's devices not also the work of one's hands? Inauthentic indeed... A contest is in order! ...Although, her mastery of Liyue cuisine is indeed impressive... Yes — the contest shall have to wait until one has made a few improvements to the device... |
Xiao |
About Xiao The Conqueror of Demons is even more withdrawn than oneself, he has been sighted a mere handful of times at social gatherings over the centuries... One was interested to learn that you are on rather good terms with him, what sort of conversations do the two of you tend to have? Oh, and do let me know when you next plan to see him. Perhaps one could make some tofu pudding for you to pass on to him. |
Yaoyao |
About Yaoyao Yaoyao once pinched my glasses from my face and tried them on for herself, she found it terribly entertaining, and couldn't stop giggling... Ah, children are able to find all sorts of ways to amuse themselves. |
Yun Jin |
About Yun Jin There are many Liyue operas adapted from stories about the adepti, including some based on one's own life and exploits... One has never watched those, of course, what could be more embarrassing than watching someone else play oneself on the stage? One would, however, be interested to evaluate how well Yun Jin did in her adaptation of Shenhe's story, when one has time to go and see it. |
Zhongli |
About Zhongli When Rex Lapis first heard of one's plan to take up residence in Liyue Harbor, he recited a long and detailed list of considerations for the furnishing and adornment of a home. Natural lighting, ventilation, bespoke woodwork, procuring porcelain, placement of plants and flowers... One's mind felt ready to explode from the deluge of information. Do all facets of life in the human world take so much effort? |
