Elemental Gemstones are ascension stones primarily used for ascending characters. Each elemental gemstone 'series' are divided into four types; from the lowest rarity Sliver, to Fragment, Chunk, and the highest rarity, Gemstone.

Elemental stones are used to ascend the playable characters in Genshin Impact. They are used along with enemy drops, mora, and local specialties to ascend a character and raise their character levels!
Each type of Gemstone can only be used by characters belonging to their corresponding element. For example, Pyro Characters only use Agnidus Agate Gemstones, while Dendro Characters only use Nagadus Emerald Gemstones.

The main source of elemental ascension stones are Field Bosses and Weekly Bosses. These boss enemies drop certain types of ascension gemstones depending on their elements.

You can change the element of ascension gemstones with the Dust of Azoth. Go to a Crafting Table, select the Convert menu, select which elemental stone you wish to craft, and select the elemental stones you wish to use.
How to Get and Use Dust of Azoth
The Traveler's ascension gemstones, known as the Brilliant Diamond series, can only be obtained through raising your Adventure Rank and collecting the rewards!
Unlike their Talent levels, you only need to raise the Traveler's character level once, regardless of which Element they are using.
